cos its a progressive tax and doing so will be more in line with social equity - those who can do more towards nation building do more lor. no one's complain...

No tax for Gov ?? No tax means no police, no army, no MOE thus no teachers and no one to build the road etc. If we do not have such services, do u think there is any security or progression for our society ? BTW schools r largely subsidised from primary to JC.

GST is designed to tax the rich more since the rich is more likely to buy more things than the poor. This is suppose to be a fair way to tax since business like frying Kway Teow may be millionaires but can declare they r earning peanuts.

There r several social benefits for the needy as well... I believe one may not die of hunger nor be homeless nor be uneducated in singapore... though u may not have enough cash for the best medical care... although I must admit it may be lesser than western countries.... but of course western countries r inherited to be rich which is different from asian economies.

Almost every area of Singapore will have road work. The stretch of road near my house had been dig n redig for 4 times in 3 years.

Dont you find ur statement contradicting?Especially the last part,"A rich man who didnt know anything was spoiled or independent".If let say u are a businessman who build up ur business by ur own without any powerful relatives in the goverment,yes,fair enough,u are consider independent.But if u are just inherit from family business n fed by silver spoon thoughout ur live,u are only consider a spoil brat as all the wealth u have can be ruined by u for ur ignorancy.There are alot of example in the past,a rich man son or grandson bring down their family business becoz of their "playboy" character.I dont know what type of richman u are,but quote from a famous person doesnt mean you are right,n it doesnt mean the person who make this statement is right also.Perhaps he is in coma or old age n make such a stupid speech.You know,no one is perfect n we all make mistake.So that famous guy could also make mistake.If u want to follow,follow wisely,not blindly.

i am not saying we dont pay tax. but rather should we make the rich pay more tax. i am also not saying those poor shouldnt pay tax.

yes we need arm forces, police,and civil defence but we are paying right salary for them. do anyone know how much an average scholar are being paid? do we need so much scholar. do we need to pay high salary to improve our already good system or there to make it better?
like someone mention why are our road keep digging non stop?

do we really think the less fortunate are really being taken care of??
frankly speaking, we can do better. of couse no country can have begger free, poor ppl. but with our govt riches, we can do better to help them.

how would taxing the rich help the poor? The rich can go anywhere they want but the poor or average folk cannot.

If you tekan the rich and all of them move elsewhere to do business like china how? moving business means you lose yur job and they hire chinaman. losing yur job means no $$ for us to pay living expenses if you even know what that means.

if singapore has vast natural resources like rubber/coal/oil or technology to export or the day singapore makes it's own unique brand of nike shoes, coca cola or things that influence the rest of the world at large on day to day basis then by all means talk big like the americans & tax the rich otherwise we still depend on them and you guys are still dreaming.

Want to blame anybody, blame yurselves for being poor.
