Singapore becomes USA's 51st state

Since we are so dependent and so obedient to the USA, why don't we convert ourselves to be the 51st states of America.

Advantages:
1) No need to migrate, already US citizen
2) Got welfare benefit such as unemployment benefit
3) More places to go and find work/business
4) (fill in youself)

Disadvantages:
1) Our minister may not get million dollar salary
2) Income tax probably higher
3) (fill in youself)

What do you think? Should we have a referendum on this?

Sounds interesting, but it will be over PAP's dead body for such a thing to happen.

Also, you forgot to mention the potential and possible variety of crime that will follow, along with racial issues that will surely ensue.

Worstly, we will immediately become Prime Targets for terrorists.

and by that logic, taiwan would be the 53rd, japan would be an autonomous 54th state, spain is the 55rd state that recently declared independance, while afghanistan and iraq is the 56th and 57th state.

THAT’S CHEAP. If Singapore ever does that, I will renounce my citizenship and go somewhere else. I’m already disgusted at the facts that our government are like Koizumi, sooooo eager to suck up to the US without having any pride at all.

technically speaking only the PM is paid that much....as of 7 years ago his pay was put at SGD$500,000 a year....taking into account pay raises and falls over the year i wont even put it higher then SGD$800,000

I mind the sucking up but I understand the purpose of it in one way or another. However, to suck up to the point of submitting to US completely, being their vassal (51/52 state) is not something I am going to accept that well.

Besides, the adminstration in US now simply stinks like a rotting corpse. And Singapore is part of Asian afterall. I can't stand the fact that the Westerns are going to dominate us someday and prove that we Asians are indeed inferior to the Westerners!

Not only that, if it's some other countries in Asia too I would say 'butt out you US dickheads!' too! Same goes for Western countries. US should be happy with what they have now, and not keep asking for more!

Countries should keep their sovereign. What is wrong with our relationship with US now ? Lets say in future China becomes more powerful than US, should we become the nth state of china too ? I mean keep your stand lah... You want to be second class citizens to Americans ?
