Viper52 seems to be a level headed person with a good measure of patience, able to hold your position and persuade others to come to your point of view; which is a quality that is needed to encourage open thinking and yet come to a common position.

Gendaken a psychologist with NSF Commando training, will make a good candidate to oversee the development of a lean and mean military machine.

Oldbreadstinks will take the life out of any unruly domestic trouble maker, but still if you prefer to take over Culture and Arts, its fine, but you will need to change your nick.

NathanG5 sorry to think that your ethnicity is Indian, just to keep to the tradition of this portfolio - which had been passed on from Rajaratnam to Jayakumar; but still even if you are not Indian, it is fine if you are articulate enough to handle foreign affairs.

panja_V with the kind of spirit that you displayed in your postings, this will be the kind of inspiration needed to handle the crap that exist in Environment.

nismoS-132 seems to be meticulous and careful in your approach, and not as reckless, and will be in a suitable position to provide leadership in Health.

shutterbug being such a radical will be wonderful to revamp the staid institutions in Education.

Tripwire being such a loose cannon will make a wonderful vehicle for the PM to be a trouble shooter.

so he has been governing singapore (i had wanted to write our country. but on 2nd thought, it is HIS country rather than ours. seriously speaking, there's no sense of belonging or wadsoever.) for the past decades. he has been controlling everything and making life difficult for all of us. he has been making decisions behind the scene (much like Cixi Dowager in Qing dynasty). he even has to interfere in an internal affair between SIA and its staff. like trying to make the country dependent on him. he can't seem to let go of power.

but death comes to all humans. what happens when he's gone? will the pap govt collapse? who knows, maybe 99% of policies and decisions were made by him. will msia grab the chance to undermine singapore?

these are just part of consequences caused by him who is not able to let go of power. i read about the joke posted in this forum that he should have retreated in glory. i totally agree. why stay in power until people begin to hate you? why not retire in glamour and respect?

if he refuses to retire, then let nature takes its own course.

the PAP did a good job. yeah, i know that, but I would like to ask you, which PAP? the PAP you are talking abt is the 1960s to 1980s PAP, that wa sled by the then still-enlightened LKY. but then are those enlightened people still PAP today? No. as far as i'm concerned, the PAP of TODAY did not achieve anything for the people at all! the main problem of the PAP is that it is becoming arrogant and resting on its laurels. as such, it is stagnating the progress of Singapore. to phrase it in another manner, the PAP built a system to provide for SIngapore, but gave teh system so much freedom, that now Singapore provides for the system.
hence, for Signapore to prosper, we have to remove teh PAP. omly by doing that, can we ahv epple who will CHANGE the system once and for all!

PAP fought for your water when malaysia tried to cheat us out of cheap water, they tried their best to maintain peace when terrorists wanted to hv a party in singapore, *oh fcuk you, JIs btw* and they made sure the chicken you ate were flu-free.

tell me, in these areas, were they just "resting on its laurels"? by having a fancy board meeting drinking kopi? and these threats just magically disappeared?

it took action, not just nescafe to handle these threats, and the govt did a damn good job.

you, on the other hand, just sit around in your fancy office, or watever, like i give a flying fcuk, type out a nice big "FCUK YOU PAP" and pointing out so called "problems" without helping to solve them.

Before you rattle off a long list of "stuff" The Party did right, I wonder if you have considered it to be some kind of a justification of the obvious things they do wrong?

Is the PAP the only party to give us stabilty and progess? Is the PAP the only party that can run Singapore correctly?

I'm afriad not, there is no reason to belief why the Party's way of doing things or the highway, is the best Singaporeans deserve so far, or if it's what they truly want at all, given the fact even competent "opposition" politicans are trampled and suppressed and most of the people don't even get a chance to listen to alternative views or ideas, ways of doing things, much less vote.

If Singaporeans do not want the Party in power, despite it's long list of so called "sucesses", it has no place being in power. That is, if you consider this nation to be a democracy.

I've noticed that the Party stays in power not from really because it was chosen, hardly, but more of an effect of it building so many barriers towards a fair and just democratic process that they have effectively locked themselves in power and there's little the people can do about it.

In fact, the very worst things we can do is use the party's so called "sucesses" in doing stuff to justify NOT thinking about the things they so obviously fleece us for, and not wonder if things can righter. After all, any german in the 1930s can defend the Nazi party's stranglehold on power by screaming that it brought sucess and stability to Germany and made it strong, irregardless of all it's flaws.

The moment we gaze over the flaws in our party, of which are massive, just because they give us stability. We give them free rein to run riot and start doing whatever they want, since they know that as long as they feed the stomache, they can dull the mind. Pull the wool over the sheep's eye's while the sheer it.

The question remains. Can any other govt. the The Party run Singapore better, more fairly, and efficently then the so-called "best possible party?"

Does this nation has the capacity in its people to form its own alternative govt. rather then the self-annointed elite bunch who not micromanage almost every aspect of Singaporean life?

Can this nation be ruled truly by the will of its people, and not a big brother Party that makes its choices for it?

I doubt there is a lack of alternative political ability in this nation, just that it has been not-so-quietly opressed and squashed whenever it threatens the status-quo. We are fed stories that giving up our rights as a members of a real democracy and handing them over to a defacto big-brother-for-life are a suitable subsitute for the unknown.

We have been told not to think for ourselves, for we have been constantly lied to that if we were to do that, we would not make it. Those few who see through that lie are rapidly silenced by offical channels or by people of the likes of you, who have so obviously been blinded by various bogeymen used to justify their presence in power.

Terrorism and the like are real threats, but as reasons why the Party should be in power, is pretty lame as such. Security is the duty of any competent govt. Changing the Party with a competent party that respects basic democracy will not equate with a loss of security.

if i'm the pm the first thing i'll do is to banned maids, then you can have your wish, TWC will really be going to fly kites, honestly, i don't really think singaporeans deserve to hire maids, most of us , maybe not all but close enough, the attitude i see shown to maids by their employers is apalling, even for those who think they're treating their maids well , they cant even ask their maids to take a sit with them while waiting, i had to go out to ask the maid to come in to have a sit , if not she'll just be standing outside for the next 20-45 mins and its happened 9 out of 10 cases, i say what type of people deserves what type of govt and oposition
