Finance Minister is like Robin Hood in reverse

Our extra-ordinarily gifted and super-talented Finance Minister has shown in his presentation of the Budget that he is well able to play the role of Robin Hood but in reverse.

Having slapped on a further 2% tax on the poor by raising the GST to 5%, henow proceeds to hand out to the mult-national and other companies a saving of 2% on their income.

The Thatcher government was called evil by the then Archbishop of canterbury.

The PAP government qualifies for the epithet by taking money from the poor to pay the rich.

The GST hurts most those who are already struggling to live within their salaries or wages.

The government has also shown that it does not think labour has any contribution to make in the economy of Singapore.

Workers in Singapore have been reduced to slaves, to take on their knees whatever is handed to them by their employers and the government.

The flexible wage has been rammed down their throats without any consultation with them.

Is it an ywonder that morale in the workforce is low as has been shown in the case of the SIA employees.

If Singapore's economy is to improve, then the contribution of labour must be recognised and labour must be given its rightful place. Otherwise workers will hold back their fullest co-operation to improve the economy. Why should they when they see that they do not get the just fruits of their labour.

The Employment Act and the Trade Dispute Act have to be scrapped and a new charter drawn up that will give workers their rightful place in Singapore's economy, not as beggars but as equal partners with capital.

Does the PAP have the political will to do this or will it continue to just pander to the wealthy and ignore the rights of the workers. If it does, it will put Singapore's economy at peril.

Surely you can give JBJ better respect and credit when even the DPM and Finance Minister has the generosity of recognising him to be a strong Singaporean, who repeatedly stand up for election despite the odds stacked against JBJ ?

'Clowns of yours' ?

It is distressing that for one who will not make your Private Thoughts into Public Speech, and show your commitment and conviction of your thoughts in Public, and in front of a crowd, you will dare call others 'Clowns' ?

You may wish to know that JBJ had won in the Anson Constituency, with overwhelming margin, but was quickly put out of Parliament by a slew of legal actions that range from Parliamentary Disciplinary Committees formed mainly by MPs from the Ruling Party, and also by Legal Actions of Libel over mundane remarks.

At the last Election when JBJ offered his service to Singaporeans of Cheng San Constituency, he was hounded by PM and SM, over statement of facts that JBJ made. (see reference site below)

Do you think the Opposition can win, when the Ruling Party has no confidence in the ability of Singaporeans to use the vote, and will change or manipulate the Election Rules at every Election ?

Why do you think the Ruling Party continuously redraw the election boundaries of the constituencies in Singapore ?

Why do you think that the Ruling Party had nearly all the constituencies being sewn together into GRC, led by anchor veteran Personalities from the Ruling Party ?

If DPM LHL is so capable a personality, he should have contested against JBJ when the opportunity arose, instead of being placed in a newly created constituency called Teck Ghee - a name that has never existed in Singapore's local history - and placed to run against an unknown Indian Woman Candidate.

respect him for? i am not an oposition fan, just because someone respects someone doesn't mean i have to follow them and respect someone who i have never even met in my whole life even though we lived on the same island

i have no love for either parties, and it doesn't make a diference whoever's in charge, the pap would just screw us more when they win, and when the sdp wins they won't get a majority to pass any new laws so it might even get worse, and even if sdp gets a majority, for someone who can't keep his cool and resorts to inciteful words in public, i don't see how chee can do much good

i'm 22 this year i'm not sure how i can respond to ur points on past elections which the sg govt did not allow me to participate
