Is the Government serious with their declared position in not
competing with Singapore's Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs)?
The Government had offered the reason that Post Offices in Europe
have offered such Pawn Shop services, it gives only one side of the
picture without informing that Pawn Shop services seem to be unique
to the Asian society and are not common in Europe.
By allowing the Singapore Post Office to offer services that are
traditionally provided by Pawn Shops, the Government has not
seriously taken its own declared position of divesting itself from
business activities that compete with SMEs.
