there is no limit to knowledge... and i do not believe in placing
limits on myself as far as knowledge is concerned...
previously, you've taught us what it meant to think from the muslim
perspective with relations to the tudung... it is something nobody
would've known if they had placed limits on what they want to
know.
if we try to understand each other's history and perspective,
there'll certainly be less misunderstandings.
take water for instance... its a classic case of conflicting
perspective. malaysia wants more money, and its not that Sg is not
willing or able to pay more, but it cannot just accept a new price
arbitarily on the grounds of friendship, goodwill and
neighbourliness.
and if one is to take these factors into consideration, what is
malaysia offering in return for our goodwill, friendship and
neighbourliness?
nobody likes to receive the short end of the stick. but that is not
always clear to everyone... especially politicians at the
negotiating table arguing on behalf of the nation based on national
interests and nothing else.
or is Sg to understand that such outbursts are the results of the
oncoming malaysian elections? many would feel that they'ld rather
mind their own business and wish that umno politicians would do the
same instead of making unfriendly speeches against Sg to win
votes.
thats what i mean by understanding each other... i frankly feel
that everything has been blown out of proportions by selfish
politicians. its nothing that cannot be settled by dialogue and
mutual compromises.
but because i'm singaporean, i do take my country's perspective
that we have been unnecessarily shoved around by our duplicious
neighbour who is attempting to push us around without any legal
basis or valid claim.
is that true? we won't know unless we try to know more about what
happens on both sides of the causeway.
