Parka SG I think there are spies everywhere. Or else how can the government get info on other countries.
foxtrout8 SG spying is a dirty secret that is carrying out in almost every country and past civilisation. It comes in two main forms, internal and external. Embassies are " open '' nerve centres for spies , of course other places can be classfied meeting grounds... Singapore have high infamous reputations on her espionage .......for wat i know , the aussies and matlanders are rather pissed by our intelligence work... Intelligence comes in many forms in singapore, and for wat i know some public or ''govt'' sectors are somehow affliated to the SID/ISD. eg SIA , SingTel and even the MOE.....
laser51088 SG not ambassdor, the Third Secretary in any embassy handles the dirty stuff that come up and international relations not seen in the papers. . .
foxtrout8 SG huh? This topic is where no govt wants to annouce , i dun think much details can be elaborate more.............
Atobe SG ________________________________________________ Spy agencies are big ticket expense agencies that have no positive bottom lines to show in their balance sheet at the end of each year. Perhaps the Malaysian Airlines is a cover for their spy agency, much like the CIA had operated their own charter airline - Air America - during the Vietnam War period. M.A.S is not quite "mana ada sistem" or "Malaysian Airline System", but could well be "Mata-mata Agensi Sikretif" - which probably explain for the massive loss that this airline had always been experiencing, and yet it continue to fly with continued Government cash injections.
CX SG huh??? congrats then... u just lost your moral virginity... then u think? people just go there to shake hands and say nice things about each other? Embassies have always been doing funny things behind the scenes... u might wanna read some tom clancy to get an indication of that... not that its bible truth lah, but its interesting how it is perceived by an author outside the establishment. or how the notorious cia double agent, aldrich ames sold secrets to the USSR... ames operated from the US embassy... and the soviets operated from the Russian embassy and this one is true... but one thing though... Sg, for all its supposed influence in foreign affairs, is awfully stingy when it comes to establishing embassies... the ambassador based in one place might actually represent in 2 or 3 other countries... esp in Europe... a bit duh if u ask me... picture this: oh, we can't talk to u ukranian, u have to talk to our ambassador and he's based in moscow in fact, we don't even have an embassy in kiev or: u have to talk to our ambassador based in Berlin Mr. Greek... he's accredited to u as well i dunno whether to laugh or to cry...
KaYaBrEaD SG i thought ambassabor.. is juz to show a good relationship between countries… n also to help its citzien in case of problem… when touring at that country…
CX SG well yah... that's the Ambassdor's job... other personnel in the Embassy deal with "other" aspects of foreign relations... some take care of singaporeans and the country's interests abroad, some do admin, some translate and some do... u know... THAT thing...
