Gun SG It was already announced on the plan to start introducing and augmenting Newater resource to the current reservoir capacity on 1 Feb 2003. This is according to similar plan to built a 2nd source of water supply from desalination method has shown in the last weeks contract award to built such facility by 2005.

Gun SG Considering this project has everything do to with Singapore's future survival and negating water depedency on foreign sources, one can't life it to chance. In fact, this "Newater" was actually meant for industries which demands ultra-purified water quality in places like fab plants and medical usage. Mixing this with our existing water is allow replenishing of natural mineral which was removed in the Newater treatment process, and also to provide psychological confidence to domestic user in this initial phase of the decades long program.
