u know... just as people think that trade is Sg's achilles' heel, hasn't it occured to anyone that M'sia would be similarly affected... a blockade of the sea lanes and the mining of the vital trade routes would strangle them nearly as much as it strangles us...

but as no one intends for a war to drag on until both sides starts starving, i think the outcome of the conflict will be decided within the first 7 days... speed is of the essence.

Malaysia is certainly aware of this achilles' heel that the mining of their ports will affect them badly.

They are now adding into their list of purchases a fleet of four mine sweepers to be delivered sometime in 2006.

i think its well known that 75 percent of singapore GNP are dependent on sea lanes...

BUT... i think many didnt realise that.. while singapore is the most sea lane dependent nation... MALAYSIA is THE second most sea lane dependent nation with 66 percent of their GNP requireing the use of the Sea lanes.. or SLOC as most people call it....

Furthermore... the regional SLOC are the artery for many nation's trade... an SLOC blockade would surely bring swift response from all major, global and regional powers into the conflict....

Commandos are considered to be like the special forces of singapore like the Green Berets and Rangers. The NDU is the singaporean version of the Sea Air And Land Team. While the UK vesion of the elite paratrooper force that can spear head any combined infantry attack because of their combat readiness and training.

Our guards Are really elite , 1 of my frend from 2rd gurds when to hawaii early dis yr for 1 month to train with the U.S navy seals

but to me i respect guards , more cos they do more things , but ppl always look up to commados , maybe cammandos are de 1st to go ...

All singapore military force units should be treated with equal respected including adminstration , infantry ,medic......etc each individual plays an important part of singapore mainland defense.Commando and guard are singapore's elite forces,true.Without medics etc they are to some extend crippled.i always believe singaporean views should be broaden rather then being confined into one aspect.Parent always told us dont be like a sweeper.......and we grown up thinking sweeper is a lowly educated and unprofessional people.

i have no quarrels with their noble role, but i don't feel the same about their professional attitude, or rather, the lack of it...

they can be quite nua and some of them are seriously out of practice... NSFs even... inexcusable.

they are supposed to be good at what they do cos people actually die if they screw up. but their training and professional conduct quite chia lat lah...

Oh well, the first malay medic that attended to me after a recon motorbike accident was pretty good. Nice fellow. Not that pleased about the MO at Nee Soon though... Bugger let a couple of officers overtake me when I was waiting in the center.

The pain was uncomfortable Confused , but worse was the fact that I needed to go crap bad! Real bad! Shocked

In the end, went hopping off to the darned loo in disgust... Came back, still have to wait! Mad

In the end, after abt 2 hours for MO evaluation and transfer before the doc at TTHS finally told me that I had 4 broken "Beckham bones". Rolling Eyes
