Don't be delusional. Singapore is not pushed around and will not be so because of miltary strength. Again please read post concerning Yankee mentality, If Singapore ever pursues the path you are advocating or had done so in the past, it will be destroyed, No two ways about it. hypothetically speakking, Sg really wouldn't have as much leverage in regional and international affairs if it was weak militarily. you'll be paying a lot more for water, we'll be unable to secure out coastlines and sealanes from pirates and other countries, the neighbours will bash us even harder every time they have problems and the US wouldn't have as much incentive to want to deal with us.

Its also one of the few nations that possess a AEGIS warship.... obviously the japs dont think as you do....

lastly... even japan is thinking of amending its constituition to permit oversea deployment of japanese military units.... aka.... expeditionary capability...

actually technology does level the playing fied... ONE MX missile.. and singapore is finished... THE same MX missile if thrown at malaysia or thailand... they too will be as gone as singapore is...

the world that we lived in... is based on force of arms... i believed that you have heard of MAD before? surely in this world that we are in where the technology of destruction far surpass the technology of defense... the only realistic way to ensure security is to guarantee the enemy a mutual destruction should war be declared... not becuase we want to kill everyone off... but simply because... there are no realistic means to prevent the damages from WMD from killing ones citizens...
