The Popeye is not a cruise missile, it is a stand-off weapon for the B52. I am not sure if it can be carried by other aircraft, it looks huge to me. Its known as the Raptor, Have Nap, and Have Lite in USAF service, with a maximum range of more than 50 miles. I have read that Turkey operates Popeye 1s with their F4s, but I dunno how true that is. The Popeye 2 is designed for fighter use.

It depends on how you see it really... A cruise missile would need to have its own mission and target tracking computer, and it must be able to sustain flight over a large distance, ie. Tomahawks. A stand-off weapon usually has limited autonomous capability, and from what I understand, the Popeye relies on guidance from its launching platform, or another plane which can direct it to its target until it can positively identify the target.

Popeye 2 is the HAVE LITE. Can be carried by F-16s.

I think popeye is not from us, is from Israel. I think is made for carry by the F16 in the first place not the B52. " Do Singapore has F16"????? Twisted Evil

RAAF also armed their Aardvarks with Popeyes, but at one stage was floating the idea of selling the Popeyes to the Greeks.

I also hope to see RSAF Vipers armed with Popeyes 2 to give it a real stand-off capability.

The Popeye was originally developed in Isreal, but US is the primary user, and they manufacture most of their Popeyes in US. I have not seen in any documents that the popeye was made for the F16 in the first place.
