Army 21 concept.......will it work?

Check out this pic....suppose to e the "future" soldier of SAF.

Spot a new(and heavier) webbing that's already in use by some units and a SAR21 that fits with a some kindda scope and so on.

Seriously, do you think the Army21 concept will work?

The soldier pic looks cool. But whats with all the attachment on the SAR?

And the SPG looks like the US Paladin. 2nd pic shows a desert enviroment.

The self-propelled Howitzer could have been tested in South Africa.

It has been discussed in other thread that ST Engg is building a self-propelled (tracked) howitzer for SAF. Some 20+ M109 chassis was bought and ST Engg is integrated the FH88 gun into the chassis.

eh.....frankly i think before SAF starts issuing fancy equipment and weapons to soldiers, they should do something about the most basic of equipment a soldier gets issued - the uniform

i personally think the cut is damn lousy. the pants if i'm not wrong tapers towards the ankles, and the crotch area of the pants is too low and the waist is too narrow. the cut is the kind you usually get with school uniforms i think. SAF should sign a contract with giordano for camo pants. usually the cut of giordano pants is very comfortable, with everything just right.

does anyone agree with me? Very Happy

Giordano pants are good but they tend to be rather heavy, especially if it's wet. I'm ok with the crotch and ankles....velcro can adjust the waist.

Are you issued with the S size old yellowish uniforms? I know a few fren being issued S size and it sux......Seems like the new uniform don't have a S size so they compromise with the pioneer camo uniforms left in the stocks.

hehe i mean giordano pants, using the normal camo material that the SAF uses for the uniforms now. i think that would work out perfectly Smile

oh what's the difference between the normal kind and the pioneer camo uniforms?

Actually, from Janes - it was 54 M109 chassis bought. Turret and gun is assumed to be local built.

Interesting.... do you have the URL?

BTW, I was wondering why not use the Centurion chassis instead. We can always learn to convert the Centurions from the Israelies. We can also convert some AMX-13 to carry the FH-88 on an external mount config - very much like the French ones.

AMX-13 chassis?? forget it............that old hag can't even handle it's own gun well, let alone a FH88.......
