heard from news that our northern neighbour allows social organizations & educational institutions to use pirated softwares to encourage them to embrace IT.

Is it good or not? what will BSA think? What will happen to those software vendors there?

Maybe they'll legalise robbing,stealing,cheating etc to pay for school fees next, to encourage ppl to learn...

Not confirmed yet lar, they are still "looking into" the possibilities oni lar. But I must say this is the latest joke from them. I really cant believe they allow such comments - wonder if they actually think before they speak?

It is a good sign for BSA - so they know which country to lock in on. Wink They may decide not to support or even import their original software into this country. I've never heard of any country openly encourage or approve of piracy (be it s/w or watever) - congrats to them for being the first. Rolling Eyes

This will definitely make s/w vendors re-think their decision to bring in their s/w into this 'interesting' country. Perhaps it is one of the reasons why the MS Windows 9x doesn't include this particular country in the time zone - while even the 'little red dot' has a place... Mr. Green

Pirates need original software programmers too. If piracy is encouraged, nobody would want to write software.. then what is there to pirate after that?? Mad

If you do not know, there was a period when Microsoft kept quiet about MS pirated software being bought and used globally

in a way...it sort of pool more users and supporters
more and more ppl can afford MS (pirated) s/w...and after using it...it sorts of become indispensible....
money still pours into their (ok...HIS) pockets...
after gaining the threshod, they then announce they want to eradicate piracy.......

you could say it's marketing tactic...

in the 70s, when the music industry was dwindling...music companies oso encrouage "pirated" copies to be sold in the market....to at least attract audiences and listeners to help boost sales a little...
earn a bit oso better than nuttin

Depends on which version of Windows u r running. U must be running the newer ones (like win2k?). Even Win98 SE doesnt have KL in time zone. Strange that they missed out on them while such a small little red dot is on the list Rolling Eyes Mr. Green

M’sia always think funny. The Malay dilemma lah. They sincerely believe that what they propose is always a creative solution! Trengganu they want to chop chop hands. KL they want to use pirated software. Duh.

maybe China can start the trend of using Linux and spread it over all its provinces. Then we can say goodbye to GPFs, IPFs and BSODs...
