the percentage of women in politics, merely demonstrates the
general interest women have towards participating in politics. i
think it can safely be said that women in singapore are given fair
education opportunities, so any discrepency in their representation
in parliament is their own doing.
i think the focus should be more on encouraging women who are
interested in, and qualify for positions in parliament, as opposed
to having a set quota for women in politics, that must be met
irregardless of whether the candidates are eligible or not. this
seems to be the path AWARE is taking, and is no different from
malaysian universities having a set quota of malays that must be
met, in universities.
think about it man.
