Max Brenner's Chocolate Bar
#01-06 Esplanade Mall
Tel: 6235-9556
Price: $18
The fondue here comes in separate little pots, one each for white,
milk and dark chocolate.
The pots bear a striking resemblance to regular aromatherapy
burners, but a water bath between the tealight and the chocolate
prevents the latter from getting burnt.
The side serving of fluffy marshmallows, fresh fruit and sweet
bread disappears quickly, but you can order more.
Haagen Dazs
#02-01/03 Esplanade Mall Tel: 6336-4022
#01-34 Anchorpoint Mall Tel: 6479-6495
Price: $15.90 (serves one), $24.90 (serves two)
Seasonal fruit and - get this - bite-sized cubes of Haagen Dazs
ice-cream, are served with the fondue here. The ice-cream is deeply
frozen so it will not melt instantly when swirled around in the
luscious pool of warm Belgian chocolate.
Once covered with chocolate, twirl the sticky sweet delight in a
bowl of finely-chopped nuts and let it slide slowly down your
throat.
Union Bar/Restaurant
81 Club Street
Tel: 6327-4990
Price: $14+++
Expect something different from the Callebaut chocolate fondue each
time you dine at Union Bar. While the premium quality of the
Belgium chocolate served remains the same, the fresh fruit varies
according to season. For an extra $5, the waiter will gleefully tip
some whiskey or rum into your chocolatey pool.
My Humble House
#02-27 Esplanade Mall
Tel: 6423-1881
Price: $12
The sturdy bowl of melted chocolate gets outshone by its elegant
sidekick - a plate of juicy red strawberries sitting daintily on a
bed of crushed ice. As if that is not divine enough, you also get
two curls of lavender chestnut ice-cream to complete the heady
experience.
