Hi, does anyone know what the law says regarding debts? My dad
owes a certain company some money, and they sent a notice for the
seizure of movable properties in our home. This is ridiculous since
the stuff in our home is bought with our own money. I don’t believe
that we should be held accountable for our parent’s debts!
Furthermore, my parents are seperated. My dad havn’t been home for
like 6-7 years, even though they are not officially divorced. Im
prepared to fight this seizure of properties nonsense all the way.
Can anyone please inform me if it is against the law to deny them?
Or if it is within my rights as a singapore citizen to hold on to
my own property?
Since you haven't severed you ties with your parents, this is
called inheritance.
many people get positive inheritance, like properties, CPF.
Meanwhile, yours spit equally among siblings (mum-50%, rest spit
equally) negative inheritance.
