Most replies here are insensitive and really don't make any
effort to understand the TS's situation.
Most people are not like TS.
So you normal people might only get sad once a year, and usually
have friends already, so it's easy for you.
When you are alone, you have a certain vibe which normal people
can instinctively feel.
Normal people with social lives will try to avoid such people,
as if lonliness is something you can catch.
It also sounds like the TS has no previous expereince with
normal decent social life, so how can he just suddenly become
extraverted, head to a nightclub, and walk up to dozens of
strangers and make lots of friends? You need a group behind you as
well to be accepted- it's called social proof.
TS- I feel for you. You have a difficult situation.
There are some things you can do, but it will take some effort
on your side to make them happen, because the biggest single
problem will be to overcome your current life of doing nothing.
1. Change jobs. The effort of looking, and new environment means
there is some change in your life. Money not so important here- as
long as not worse.
2. Working visa- I think you are under 30, yes? Then you
have a great opportunity. Most Western countries like Canada,
Australia, UK, allow you to travel and work. You will meet many
friendly ppl in same situation, make friends. And you will get away
from parents and SG and see how small SG is.
3. Don't rely on SGforums for friends to help you. Most people
dont have your expereince, so won't understand/empathsise, and
you'll get replies that wont help you.
4. One of the above repliers was right about one thing- getting
a girlfriend is not hard- but getting one you want is- which
usually means getting a slim pretty girl, right? If you can-
try to lower your expectations about her physical aspects. I dont
mean you have to go all Lydia Lum, but sorry, Denise Keller and
Fiona Xie are out of yuor (our!) league.
1. I change job because my boss say my performance not up to
standards, nothing to be happy about.
2. Yup I am under 30 but doing very normal jobs like admin,
customer service etc not those specialised jobs like nursing etc
that will be easy to go overseas to work..
