Next year, 46 will connect people living in Tampines West (and Bedok East) to the Downtown Line Tampines West station.

Upper East Coast -> Tampines (Loop), also stopping at Century Square, Tampines 1 and Tampines Central 1/Tampines Concourse, those bus routes that did not get served. There is no space at Tampines Interchange after the introduction of 20 in 2013.

Tampines Interchange Extension will be opening soon :)

It provides a long-waited complaining connectivity from Bedok North Road (Fengshan Market) / Tampines Avenue 3 to the respective MRT stations.

68 will only be from Pasir Ris to Tampines Concourse (Loop), or don't do it at all. Bus 46 took over my stretch.

Anyway, all these are my suggestions from 2014 (feedback to LTA).

It can also be extended to Pasir Ris, the main reason is to decentralise the crowding of Tampines Interchange. But some of the routes will be under Go-Ahead (if it is 68). 46 is SBST.

Hi mr TPS Timothy Mok, last time I wondered why bedok 85 market got so few bus services. Then they say they will enhance chai Chee area by amending sbs 26. So I thought bedok north Blk 85 market will have no enhancement. Haha. Never did I expect they introduce new bus service 46 to cover bedok 85 market. Cheers. Thanks.

Poster did not state looping at Tampines Interchange. If looping then the poster would be somehow like Svc 256/258, continuous journey between Joo Koon - Boon Lay (Loop) and Boon Lay - Joo Koon (Loop) respectively.

Excellent. Sv 46 is like I proposed for sv 14 extension to Tampines. It is to connect UEC/Bedok South/Fengshan to future DTL3. Also with this they are connecting Tampines Ave 3/st 83 to DTL3.

Good move. I think the route will do well with DDs.

Alternately, it could have done Tanah Merah MRT - UEC and sv 45 could have been diverted to CBP instead.

The work on Tampines interchange extension has started. In future, some services will extend to Tampines North.

Major layover time will be at UEC. Tampines may just be a stop gap measure until Tampines extension is up and running.

The Tampines sector should have higher loading as it supplements 291 and 293 to Tampines Int, though I'm not sure if the Bedok South - Bedok reservoir sector needs DDs, as it largely duplicates 506. But loading will increase when DTL3 opens.

Loading will definitely be very good as this will be the only service connecting Bedok North Road (huge # of HDBs + new ones at Fengshan) to DTL + new connection to nearby Tampines town which was missing.

506 is an express service w/ poor frequency and cannot be compared.

The part of 46 duplicating with 291/293 will really depend on which service calls first. 291/293 are doing pretty good, and you don't see the long snaling queues anymore as you have a bus every 03 mins (unless traffic delays). 16-17 buses + PPSS is good enough for this sector.

The reason it plies ave 3/st 83 is to give those residents quicker access to DTL rather than back travel to Tampines Interchange.

Indeed, these are two different services...Service 68 starts from Pasir Ris, it will be introduced in July/August before Go Ahead takes over.

At least better than trunk service 860 and 882 which only ply within Yishun and Sembawang towns respectively..I predict service 48 will terminate at Changi business park later and a new short trunk service will cover the route along bndep and loop somewhere in Bedok North

That's pretty obvious. Though, I am beginning to suspect that once rationalisation begins with the opening of DTL3, there may be new services (not old services chopped up), with the freeing of resoruces from winding routes that are no longer necessary. This could happen post-BSEP.

That makes sense, but it would make 48 slightly longer. LTA might not want to play with long-haul services, although 48 is quite direct and was extended in the past.

As for the new Bedok North service, looping at Bedok North St 2 would be good. Also, great if it connected Bedok South Rd, then there would finally be a link between Bedok South Rd and Bedok North. (Yes, 46 technically links the two estates but it will only serve Bedok South Av 3, but a well planned route nonetheless).

How will they free resources from winding routes if not chopped and merged?

After DTL3, I suspect there will be some rationalization that will happen.
