exclusive 'club of four', which would have effectively pulled this
Asian nuclear power out of its new coalition with Russia, China and
Brazil. On 28 December the Indian Government politely warned the
American military to stay clear of Indian sovereign territory, and
on 29 December the India Daily Editorial publicly questioned the
nature of the event: "Was this a showdown by a country to show the
region what havoc can be created?" ... "Given the level of
devastation and given the fact India is a regional power in South
Asia, [the] Indian Navy has an obligation to investigate and tell
the world what they found."
