Why E500 again when their performance is not good? :( E500s are the noisiest DDs after the CDGEs IMO.

I always think that daily essential commuting public buses or trains is just like having a meal. A new model roaming around n commute them is a bonus just like tasting a new dish. a minority dun care? you must be kidding also.. 3.8 million paxes took buses everyday.. so only a minority dun care about the bus types? all are concern about whether the buses have USB port/PIS or other features? to 99.9999% of the pax, a bus is a bus...

most of the paxes just wan the buses/trains to come on time and can board... so if the buses/trains that come does not have PIS, you dun board? or the bus come is old non-wab bus, you also dun board? maybe if you are a studend and have plenty of time after school, you can do that. but if you are working and rushing to work/going home, you will just be happy to be able to board the first bus/train that come...

You're taking things to the extreme. Nobody said that ppl will purposely avoid buses without a PIS or USB charging. But ppl will certainly appreciate it when they have these things.

I'm tired of ppl saying a bus is just a bus. We're not saying we can't live without it. But if there is an OPTION for it i.e. stop buying SBST spec and start buying more A95 etc, then we shouldn't use the excuse of settling for the lesser by comparing with the minimal.

Besides by your logic, why are we even procuring European bus models? Won't PRC buses do the job too? Or better still, bangla buses without aircon and has bamboo seats? Bus what.

will pax appreciate these PIS/USB ports or some other fancy items in the buses? dun think so.. it is not a necessity..... do not need these fancy items to push up the bus fares... maybe some tourist need the PIS.. but really is it useful? how many paxes bother to see the PIS inside SMRT buses when it put "Opposite Blk 214 market" what on earth is this? which road?

as for SBST spec, these are old purchases. not sure why you keep on complaining on this?

well, maybe you will see MIC buses or made in india buses in the coming futures. who know? with LTA doing the purchasing, anything is possible esp if they are doing competitive bidding. (right now, it seem like they are not really in doing competitive bidding for those A95orders) .but for the upcoming electric/hybrid buses trial, dun be surprise to see MIC buses...

Those who says SBST technicians has no knowledge of servicing various type of buses then you're wrong.You all seem to forgotten that SBST used to buy various of bus types in the past.Its just they have massive fleets and keeping to just 3 models is cost-effective.Why i say A95 spread around?Because i feel this model will be the next mainstream model after B9TL.To be honest,TTS maintain those E500 way better than SMRT.GAS seem to be more interested on the electric/hybrid buses than those A95 because electric buses play a part for their UK operations.

B9TL had stopped production n replaced by euro 6 b8l. HK bus opreators had started ordering this model besides KMB by now. Hopefully a95 is the mainstram model. I think they are slighly more solid than the formers.

Euro VI still got a long way,What i can think of yes the Volvo B8L & MB Citaro C2.

Thats it if LTA decided to retired all those Volvo B10TL,Volvo B9TL CDGE,Dennis Trident & the Volvo B10BLE.If they kee siao and really keen about emissions then those Euro IV K230UB also in trouble.

There is also Euro VI MAN A22 with 280/320hp option.

i was thinking about solar powered buses.

E500s aren't that bad as compared to B9TL, though SMRT Lances do not survive more than 10 years. A95 sure has many good points but are more expensive than others.

Suppose all for smrt except sg5999. Batch 2 15 suppose to go to SMRT unless LTA changes it mind by passing a small number of them to other operators. Especially TTS since they hav proven that they maintained better than SMRT.

Now the current generation of bus lobbyists are lobbying day in day out for thousands of A22s and A95s, and whining about the Citaros and B9TLs on the roads.

The next generation of bus lobbyists by 2020 is going start lobbying day in day out for their very own shopping list, and whine about thousands of three-door A22s and A95s on the roads.

And please do not complain when you start paying $2 minimum bus fare next year to fund all of your adventures, and eventually $4.10 by 2020. Capital cost has got to come from somewhere...
