I have read a forum where there are rumours of a future Seletar MRT line to serve the future regional centre. This is my prediction for this MRT line.

Stage 1 (2030):

Pasir Ris (interchange with EW1/CIL)

Pasir Ris West (junction of Pasir Ris Dr 1/12)

Lor Halus (will remain closed until the area is developed)

Riviera (interchange with PE4)

Punggol (interchange with NE17)

Stage 2 (2031-2032):

Punggol West (west end of Punggol Ctrl, near Sungei Punggol)

Seletar (future regional centre)

Seletar West (change here for branch line*)

Stage 3 (2033-2034):

Piccadilly

Jalan Kayu (junction of Jalan Kayu and Fernvale St)

Fernvale Woods (junction of Jalan Kayu and Sengkang West Ave)

Seletar Hills

Serangoon North (interchange with CIL, junction of Serangoon North Ave 1/3 and Ang Mo Kio Ave 3)

Serangoon (interchange with NE12/CC13)

I didn't mention anything about bus rationalisation. It's precisely because this has little to do with buses that I posted it here in crapbox.

Also, the Pasir Ris to Punggol sectors were meant to replace the CRL branch.

Kinda pity that the punggol north LRT spur line idea is aborted now, given that the authorities hav already built some stuff ready for it alr. Lets hope the tuas south MRT idea would not be scrapped! :(

Was looking for the potential ITH in the long and longer future, when I realise from the online plans and resources that there may actually be a new MRT line between Tengah and Holland Village, in the future. In fact, this new line may turn South at Queenstown area, and serve the Bukit Merah employment areas, before proceeding to the city centre from there. It could be the next MRT line to be announced, in the LTA master plan next year. So, let's look forward to it.

Anyway, this means that Bukit Merah Bus Interchange could potentially be an integrated transport hub, around 2030.

I also expect another regional line to be developed around Paya Lebar Airport area, which would be vacated around 2020. The new line would serve that new area, and would probably interchange with other lines at unlikely-interchanges, such as Kovan, Tai Seng and Kembangan. Expected completion: 2030-2035.

To be honest, when you are at Tuas Link MRT station, you can really feel the sense of pride, of being Singaporean. At Tuas Link, there is a viewing panel at the concourse level, that offers a view of Malaysia. To see Malaysia so ulu, while we so advanced, really makes me proud of being a Singaporean. :)

That sense of disappointment when u walk out of the gantry and one of the first signboard u see is: "Travellers are not allowed to walk into Tuas Checkpoint. Please proceed to Boon Lay and Jurong East Bus Interchange to use cross-border bus services"

HAHA then u will realise how disappointing it is again when u can't cross the bridge when you are like within walking distance and u must tun back HAHA

Hope they do smth soon...

Quite sad to see how optimisitc those retailers at Joo Koon ITH are when they think that Joo Koon ITH allows easy access to malaysians when it is only accessible by private transport and not by public transport from the checkpoint

To relocate the cross-border bus services to Tuas Link, I believe a lot of paper work needs to be done. Because to begin with, the cross-border bus services are operated by Malaysia operators. These companies probably signed a contract with LTA, to have their buses at Jurong East and Boon Lay. It's not like relocating buses from Jurong East Bus Interchange to the temporary one, in 2011, where you can simply move them to the new facility.

To relocate the buses to Tuas Link, a change of contract terms has to be negotiated, and this would take some time. I believe they will move the buses to Tuas Link eventually, but not now. Probably next year, or the year after. But eventually, the cross-border buses would probably relocate to Tuas Link, because Jurong East Bus Interchange got limited capacity, and if they were to relocate Jurong East cross-border buses to Tuas Link, they may want to also relocate the Boon Lay cross-border buses over, to consolidate everything at one place, to reap economies of scale, and other cost savings. So, let's wait and see.

The retailers already have the catchment area around Joo Koon ITH (Integrated Transport Hub), to support their business. In fact, that's what the commercial development are created for. The people at Tuas Second Link is probably not their target audience. Nonetheless, if the people at Tuas Second Link can connect to Joo Koon ITH via the MRT line, of course it's good for the business at Joo Koon ITH, because more people = more business for the retailers at Joo Koon ITH.

I like to call Hougang 'the town without bridges'. Not that there are no bridges, but the only bridges are pedestrian overhead bridges. No MRT tracks, LRT tracks, flyovers, viaducts. Not sure if the one at Buangkok Drive entering KPE counts.
