Apparently, the LTA will hand over the Tuas MRT stations and depot to SMRT soon.

Considering testing and commissioning takes around three months, if the handover is done by July, we can expect the new stations to open in October this year. :)

Meanwhile, Malaysia's Klang Valley MRT SBK line first section already doing testing and commissioning, but they only say it will open by December this year.

I think ours will open first before they open theirs.

With regards to the proposed rapid transit system in Woodlands and Johor Bahru Sentral (JB Sentral), I feel that only Singapore is interested in this project. After all, Singapore is a city, whereas Johor Bahru is a suburb. Malaysia does not have plans to build Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in Johor Bahru yet, so why would they want to construct this Rapid Transit System (RTS) now? Furthermore, they already have their Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) trains running across the crossway. I think it is better to talk about the KTM first; later than talk about MRT. If the ez-link card can use on KTM train between Woodlands and JB Sentral, actually that can be a good alternative. Of course, if they can enhance the KTM service, expand the causeway, or build this RTS, that would be great. Well, I am just expressing my feelings here, because the RTS talk very long already yet until now still no news about it.

With regards to the proposed High-Speed Rail, I feel that Singapore may need it to support the Jurong Lake District developments, like the future lakeside village and the possible tourist attractions along the Jurong Lake. Currently, there's a limited number of people patronising the existing science centre, and the new Genting hotel is probably collecting dust most of the time. The two MRT stations Jurong East and Chinese Garden are quite a distance from that area, and even the future MRT Jurong Region Line does not ply that stretch of Jurong Town Hall Road. So, there's limited traffic volume and public transport connectivity from this part of Jurong Lake District. The future lakeside village is going to be mainly commercial activities. Needless to say, the possible tourist attractions by the lake needs profits to sustain. Thankfully, the proposed High-Speed Rail from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia will come to Jurong East. It would bring a crowd to this part of Jurong Lake District, support the business here and contribute to our economy.

With regards to the MRT Jurong Region Line, there is information that it will have approximately thirty stations. It would mean that every station will be around 666.67 metres apart. With such high accessibility, it would encourage more people in the Western part of Singapore to use public transport.

Personally, I think the Jurong Region Line (JRL) will be underground.

Firstly, elevated viaducts need to maintain some distance away from buildings. So far, we know that the JRL will run along two densely-populated areas, namely Jurong West Street 64/75/82 and the "gap" towards Choa Chu Kang MRT Station. The former is only 35.60 m to 57.32 m wide, while the latter is only around 28.04 m wide. It's hard to visualise how JRL could run elevated along those areas.

Secondly, the line will run in Jurong Lake District and Jurong Innovation District. These are growth areas where land is precious. I do not think the government would want the JRL to run elevated across those areas and occupy the air space there.

The information about JRL being "elevated" is probably a distraction, or a fabrication.

(likewise for other information such as number of stations and the interchange stations)

It is likely that the public, including the "transport enthusiasts", knows little about JRL.

Which is good, since contractors are to abide to the agreement of not disclosing the information to the public.

One (last) comment about Jurong Region Line:

- The only credible source is the government agencies: LTA, URA, HDB, etcetera.

- According to official news about Tengah, JRL is confirmed a MRT line.

- Regarding the depot, there is a site for "transport facilities" in Tengah, that is much larger than the one at Jurong West Avenue 2. Who knows what the two sites are for.

- Honestly, apart from the rough alignment of JRL, nothing has been announced from the official sources.

- Do not believe everything on the internet.
