After 4 years, get a promotion, maybe 2.8K per month.
After another 4 years, get another promotion, 3.5K a year.
Another 2 more years, get another promotion, 4K a year.
Total 10 years to reach 4K. 
those from public uni (NUS, NTU, SMU) with gd honours tend to be
much better paid, almost all (in fact all) of my frens start
wif at least 3k, whether engineers, accountants, teachers etc,
somehow the private degree holders (eg. SIM) I know tend to
follow the above trend, most starting at 2k only
but the above exclude lawyers and docs, whose starting pay are
at least 4k
saw a Wong Partnership brochure (a local law firm) recruiting
lawyers, their starting pay 5k, and not even including bonus
yet
