Please don't think relationship - marriage is like baking a bread.

Just because your bf/gf is with you X number of years does not make any difference in a successful marriage.

You go into the marriage when you are very sure he/she is the person you can live with the rest of your life.

When you are sure his/her life goals are the same as yours.

When you are sure he/she can be a good husband/wife and father/mother to your children.

Problems in your relationship will not go away.. just because both of you got married.

You must go into a marriage with confidence.. not doubts.

When you're ready via the click theory? Some people remain in relationships for years and still think of marriage as a giant step forward. I don't know. Maybe after you're done sowing your wild oats, lived a little, experienced independence, enjoy certain accomplishments in your career and education bah. Then you'll prolly be relaxed enough for things like marriage.

Marriage means totally embracing a person's flaws, accepting his or her past, being understanding to your partner and the list goes on. Marriage means a whole great deal of responsibility on both partners to keep the marriage going. A lack of effort, time, patience or attention may eventually lead to a failed marriage.

Despite the exceptions, the time that a couple spends before a marriage is very important also as it helps both partners to understand and get to know each other better. It also allows them to build up a special bond between them.

The length of the relationship may not be the main factor of moving the relationship into the next level. What I feel most impt is if the love between both has matured and whether there is financial stability.

i know some one.. very personally, knew this guy for 6 mths , got married to him n divorce after 1 yr.

another case, got into a relation for almost 10 yrs, now finally tying the knot.

It all depends on individuals, isn't it? As long as one is absolutely clear yet not blinded by the sweet illusion of being someone else's husband/wife, others' opinions about being tied down, doesn't matter. As long as you don't mind less freedom and as long as you feel you are really ready...why not? It's always healthy for your mind and soul to dream away, think of the positive side and then set it to reality. However, disillusion can creep in if one's blinded, not rational and not aware of the surrounding/consequences around them. Or even disillusioned by the intensified passion in you wanting to lock your partner up and be yours truly. And the only way to that is to marry.

In my humble opinion, marriage at a young age is safe and possibly blissful when both side of the couple's families are peaceful - not aggresively filled up with bias-ness, judgements, parental problems and that allow freedom, less expectations and less restriction(responsibilites) in the marriage. The rest of the "happiness"...is up to the couple - to work hard for their future esp financial issues.
