Now we knew why SMRT only orders 101 Alexander Dennis Enviro 500.I guaranteed this will be a sucessful trial and probably they will order at least 150 units...

It would be nice if SBS Transit could have some MAN double decker buses also. Why is it that SMRT always get the best things nowadays?

We might see these in Seletar contract area if we are lucky.

Depending if they want it or not,Unless LTA force them to take sincs its under the package.If they can take the DD,They also can kapo the A22 but again SBST wont take the SMB plate ones.

I doubt SBST has much choice, especially when all the buses under its ownership scrapped in future. The bus fleet in future is all under LTA. Either they take it or leave it.

I still have a feeling that SBST will still stick to B9TL and Citaro only even by the time the Seletar package contract starts next year. They have poor experience of maintaining models of man buses and dennis buses. They will try to find every way to avoid taking other than merz n volvos as possible since they won this contract with the lowest bid.

They won by low-balling so all the more they should have as little say as possible in the allocation of vehicles for their fleet.

But definately will he slugging for the second and third gear..LTA already restricted the 1st/2nd gear for ZF6 speed,SBST would continue the 3rd gear

Provided LTA stipulated that the BSEP A22s on YIS routes under Seletar contract must follow their perm routes.

The package is awarded by LTA to SBST to run the services, and use the leased LTA owned buses to run them. They cannot anyhow just swap their own fleet into the package to use. And SBST has its other services to run. They won't have enough buses if they take away and swap into the package.

Remember everything now is owned by LTA. The bus operators are just service providers and they have not much decision making on the fleet and packages.

If you look at the deployment pattern of Amdep for their Yishun svc,Many SG Citaro always perm on some Yis Feeders,851,852 & 860.But i do have a feeling that SBST might just take the SG Citaro,SG A22 & A95 and not Enviro500.

So,If every package SBST bid the lowest than others,LTA automatic award them the contracts ah?Where is the competition?If both TTS/GAS got more than 1 package,Im sure they too will try to bid low.

Go-Ahead Singapore also "won by low-balling" when they participated in the Loyang bus tender previously, and they requested for a uniform fleet of only one single-decker bus model and one double-decker bus model. I would expect SBS Transit Limited to also have only two bus models: one single-decker and one double-decker, but the bus models may not necessarily be Volvo B9TL or Mercedes Citaro. Probably the bus models that are commonly used in the Seletar package bus routes, that are operated by the incumbent operators today.

Itâs not about the price. The evaluation of the bids is "based on the same set of criteria through a two-envelope process which looked at quality and price factors, with greater weightage given to the quality proposals."

Just wondering, where can I find information about the engine on MAN double-decker buses? Is there a website that I can read, to learn about it?

Under the Bus Contracting Model, "the Government owns the bus assets and pays the operators a fee to run the services."

285 and 334 already had DDs during SBS time.

334 was already using DD from the NAC era.
