Oops. I can understand if everyone is all with 99 to Joo Koon ... but it was just LTA's draft, not even a confirmed amendment. In fact before the info leak, many were calling for it to end at Boon Lay or Soon Lee depot instead ...

As for 972, it can probably extend to Shenton Way, provided there is demand ... then 971E can be renumbered 972E as well.

On a side note, many long trunks that looped near bus interchanges (16, 123, 124, etc.) have already been force-extended to end there, probably for similar reasons. The reverse for Changi Airport services, and 62 is still stranded outside Lor 1.

The purpose of 123 and 124 extension is more to benefit the residents rather than having a terminal for the service...

Not really.

123 was extended to connect Bukit Purmei HDBs with Harboufront/Vivocity. So close yet so far before 123 extended.

124 was extended to connect Tehlok Blangah Heights to Harboufront / Vivocity.

Both service extensions have taken on quite well, so i would not say they are forced-extensions. At same time, they resolved the issues related to looping with this change.

99 and 972 is not the same case. 972 is pretty fast as it has a sole purpose of connecting Orchard with BPJ. 99 is long winding and is more of an intra-town service. Hence, 99 coming to a logical terminating point whether Boon Lay or Joo Koon is welcome. 972 looping @ Dhoby Ghaut is doing well for itself.

I agree with BusAnalayser... I believe is more of connectivity.. Is 63 still using Rumah Tinggi Terminal to take a short break? I saw a video of a joyride...

Back then when Hgdep control Eunos,63 do rest at Rumah Tinggi because its dual depot control with Arbp.Arbp BCs start/change shift at the Terminal but hve mealbreaks at Eunos

972 fast meh? That time I took 972 from the bus stop outside Dhoby Ghaut MRT station and alighted at one of the first few bus stops at Bukit Panjang town. It was during peak hours. The entire route between Dhoby Ghaut and just before the bus enter Bukit Panjang was congested. If I remember correctly, that journey took around one hour thirty minutes.

Okay la. Since Mr BusAnalyzer says so, then One hour thirty minutes to complete around ten kilometers is still quite fast. :)

To make the already quite-fast journey even faster, I have a suggestion:

Bus Lanes.

I know, from my experience at the other forum (Skyscrapercity Singapore - Transport/Infrastructure) when I suggested bus lanes, there may be people here (SGforums) who would say that Singapore land is scarce. But you look at Hong Kong. Although Singapore size is smaller than Hong Kong size, Singapore has more use-able land. If Hong Kong can build tram tracks on the roads, I am sure Singapore can have more full-day bus lanes on the roads.

For changing shift,Its between 10-16 mins depending on duty.Arbp duties is between 4 buses ahead/behind Hgdep duties.There is 3 parking lots so Hgdep BC does get a short break upon reaching there.Now the parking lots left 2 only.

12 end-on berths, orange/beige paintwork. Boarding/alighting should be allowed at the bus ter, although there's not much nearby except SUTD.

Even if it is dual depot... BBDEP will be majority and SLBP may take only 4 buses,. 80% still with BBDEP.

SLBP will have to take in many buses because in spite of some routes getting cut to Joo Koon, overall with more route introduction, there is some route overlap.
