my personal opinion and view, LTA is making bus travelling worst with smaller bus interchange, crawling speed of the infamous Sv 983 and Sv 700. These bus planners really need to wake up their f&*ng idea, honestly. Reducing bunching is a good intention, but bus speed really needs to travel at a reasonble speed. Travelling at 20km/hour on the PIE and BKE is really no go

Problem with SMRT,Not enough HC buses thus they add so many SDs and to maintain frequencies,They have to slow down the pace of the buses like it or not.

Not 180 as it serves as an important connection between BPJ and Bukit Batok Road/Lakeside. 180 turning right from junction will not have access to BPJ MRT.

Your first reasoning as to why 972 would originate from the bus park doesn't makes much sense for reasons I would give below.

I was initially confused as to which bus stop along Bukit Panjang Road you are referring to until I viewed it in context; it's the one at opposite Block 183. True enough, making 972 starts from the ITH would cause that bus stop to be skipped because it's the same as how 920 and 922 goes before it was closed. However, with regards to some of the services you mentioned that they transferred from (leaving aside 176 and 970 since they plied from Hillview in the same manner as 963), in some cases I have highlighted below, they could have simply transferred from the bus stop at Block 270 along the same road instead if 972 is amended to the ITH.

I was dumbfounded as to why there can be foolish passengers (I could not think of a better word than 'foolish') who chose to transfer from the three bus services at the Opp Block 183 bus stop and go around loops within the estates served by the LRT before reaching destinations beyond Block 270, which is far much longer than the route taken by 190 or 960/963 between the two bus stops along Bukit Panjang Road. Of course, some of them could have been the residents served by the LRT (for CCK people, they could have stayed on 190 if they are going to Orchard); it may be based on your data and I do not have the benefit of reading them so I wouldn't comment on its accuracy, but from a practical perspective, the reasoning sounds strange to me.

I am surprised by what you have written above. Pardon me but it seems you don't know the CCK and BPJ towns well.

You are calling people foolish who transfer at stop opp blk 183 for not taking LRT. My friend both CCK and BPJ have majority flats that are not served by LRT. When people take 190 and transfer to 972, they are mostly coming from Teck Whye Estate going to Senja/Segar/Jelapang not served by LRT. 972 is the best and quickest for them.

Likewise for 176, 960, 963, 970. You may argue that they can alight at Jelubu Road and transfer but that would increase their time to transfer at interchange or walk to interchange/LRT.

Hence, I suggest you may want to go and observe at Opp Blk 183 that each 972 gets between 20-40 pax depending on the arrival of other buses even if LRT + 920/922 are available from Petir/Jelubu to the same BPJ Estate.

Anyway, there is high probability that 972 will start from BPJ Interchange but this will definitely inconvenience many pax. My recommendation would be to make it start from the temp terminal if it would still exist and reduce congestion at BPJ Interchange and in future extend to Gali Batu Terminal.

And to further add more context, 972 frequency is 05-07 mins during peak hours. This would mean every 10 minutes you have a good 60-80 people who need 972 from Opp Blk 183 stop to get them to inner BPJ Ring Road estate.

5-7 mins meh? even off peak bus already bunch at the very first bus stop. At times can see 3 972 DD at the first bus stop during off peak and peak. More like 30 secs to 1 min freq lol

Agree with Bus Analyser on the loading and demand on the first bus stop of Sv972. most paxs are going to Senja, Jelapang Segar area not served by LRT. When you alighted there, the only choice of Sv972, or walk a little further up to catch Sv 920 or Sv 922. Bt Panjang LRT or Senja LRT is too far, serve no purpose.

75 and 171 exit directly via Petir Rd.

Just visited the new Hillion Mall at Bukit Panjang. It's so cramp at one side (near Bukit Panjang Plaza), and so vacant at another (towards Bukit Panjang MRT). Whoever designed this mall failed to use the space efficiently. I really wonder where's the bus interchange located. Hopefully the crowd can "flashover" to the bus interchange, so that it's less cramp. Nonetheless, it's the worst mall I have ever visited. I have never been to a mall that's so hard to walk, or find my way. Thank god I don't live at Bukit Panjang. đ
