I doubt the authenticity of this information. Since Punggol interchange will be controlled by Loyang, it will need to take into account one more feeder service for Punggol.

There are new HDBs coming up close to TPE on Matilda side. They are really far from main road. How does LTA expect these people to have access to MRT and amenities?

Leave alone a service or diversion needed for Waterway Sundew HDB at Edgedale Plains end and Punggol East end. No service also??

Simple: Make 386 a townlink service.

Hi mr array88, sbs 386 is doing very well currently. Crowd is gradually increasing and it is best left untouched. Not practical for it to cover Matilda side as it is on the other end. Note Matilda and edgedale plains are far apart and making it town link will inconvenience many passengers. Punggol interchange is currently being expanded and the workers put up hoardings around the field today. We can expect new services to cover new btos by yr 2016 end earliest or Q1 2017. Cheers. It can be a townlink service that enters Punggol interchange after completing its first loop (current route) without parking. Although the signboards need to be clear and precise, it can reduce inconvenience to passengers who are travelling from the first loop into Punggol interchange.

It can operate with 6-8 buses.

If LTA wants to count 386 as 3 new bus services...

Hi mr SBS3004X, too complex. Think it simple. Don't forget sbs 386 still have a dual function role to play at end of edgefield plains. This makes it even more unlikely.

Moreover, its current loop does not cover edgedale plains end. So how you expect it to cover all of the side roads around Punggol east then continue back to interchange and go out to cover the side roads of Punggol west??? If you have your eyes on sbs 386, why not do the more sensible stuff of tweaking sbs 382G/W which is Punggol west feeder bus to cover Matilda side? 382G/W are running empty buses so there is scope to modify route to get more passengers. 386 is for east. What I was saying is to operate 386 like this:

Punggol Int - Punggol East (via current route) - Punggol Int - Punggol West (to Matilda) - Punggol Int - ...... - (terminate at interchange after a few cycles of this)

In this way, Punggol West residents can have access to amenities in Punggol East without making transfer (as they can just stay on the bus when it reaches interchange).

Hi mr array88, I understand your point but it will not happen seriously when sbs 382G/W is underperforming. Moreover, Punggol has LRT west and east which somehow takes care of what you wish. Tampines and woodlands have no LRT so need bus services to compliment as town link type.

Another point in contention is sbs 386 did not cover edgedale plains end. This point was brought into discussion and still unresolved by your so called town link service Sbs 386. It is impractical to use sbs 386 to cover every single road in west and east. Cheers. Thanks.

Sbs 382G/W serves sumang walk. This is very near to the Matilda side. Sbs 382G/W could just have an additional bus stop towards the punggol field end and better serves all the HDB flats nearby. Take a good look at the map. Sbs 382G/W is much better placed and have the capacity in terms of buses to serve the population there in time to come. Cheers. Thanks.

Busanalyser asked if any service to connect Matilda and edgedale plains end. 2 other forumers suggest to make sbs 386 town link to link up Matilda and current sbs 386 route, forgetting that edgedale plains end deep inside waterway (after punggol drive) is not part of the sbs 386 route. Imagine trying to make sbs 386 town link and going to all these places plus its current load and also serve the west as well??? Note that some of the routes will make sbs 386 turn here turn there and it is not convenient too. It is really out of the way.

The thing is, 386 is a long route. And only 3 full day buses on a weekday.

It's stupid.

And all they did is to add SBS6530Z and nothing else.

All the need is to finish building that damn road that goes beyond Punggol Edgefield, and loop around the southern loop of Punggol Edge.

That's a much better route. And introduce another feeder which follows 62, then passes by Greendale, Punggol Secondary and loop at Edgefield Plains northern loop to connect the schools altogether.

Introduce another feeder to loop inside edgedale plains end (inside waterway) and connect to edgedale plains end (near Mee Toh and Punggol edge Bto) and follow sbs 62 route along Punggol field back to interchange. Looking forward to Sv 102's and Sv 979's amendment soon. Sv 102 really needs a boost in its loading to justify its needs for DDs. It's a pity that 979 is skipping quite a few potential bus stops when it plies KJE in both directions.

more interested to know whether there will be exchange of service between SMRT and SBST after Aug 31, as the rest of 9 packages will be controlled by them under GCM and govt is suppose to pay them for the running cost....
