well, just wondering, is it possible to have bus routes of less than 10km and running only in industrial areas?

do we call bus services that run on such routes "Feeder bus services", even though they never serve any HDB apartment block?

because I think of the 3-6 bus services that Mr Pervertedboy mentioned, all will be "feeder" serving only one particular zone (eg. Kian Teck-Lok Yang, Benoi-Shipyard, Joo Koon-Gul, Tuas-Tuas Link, Tuas Crescent-Pioneer Sector, Tuas South), complemented with "intra-town" trunk services from Boon Lay Bus Interchange running along the main roads across the six zones.

Personally, I think the bus network at Joo Koon Bus Interchange will be similar to the one at Yishun Bus Interchange, where

Meanwhile, I think Pioneer Road North will be the divider between Boon Lay and Joo Koon's "areas of responsibilities". the industrial areas east of Pioneer Road North (and Tanjong Kling Road) would most probably remain under Boon Lay.

I believe we should have such services with the P variant, operating only in peak hours uni-directional from MRT to industrial estates something like 881. Industrial areas have been largely neglected by LTA/SMRT/SBST and I don't think it is correct.

If you see the loads on 78/79/183, you know that there is a huge demand. Hopefully, with these more buses, such P services are appropriately planned.

well, unlike in the city, people working in the industrial areas go home at the same time. as a result, the roads leading to the expressways are always congested during evening peak hours, as they are in the morning.

well, I agree with you that instead of having standard "feeders", we should have "feeders" that operate only during peak hours, since the people working in the industrial areas only require the buses to go to their workplace and return home. instead of having them go to the bus interchange/terminal, they will just go to the respective MRT stations and end there.

during regular hours, when the demand is much lower, it is wise to only have intra-town bus services running along the main roads and passing through the boundaries (instead of going into it) of every zone in the industrial area, going directly to Tuas Bus Terminal and terminate there.

since there are intra-town bus services running along the boundaries of every zone in the industrial area, I think it is better to have the peak hour "feeders" run and end at where they intersect with the intra-town bus services - unless they go to Joo Koon MRT, which is already built.

people can simply make a transfer from the "feeders" to the intra-town bus services and go to whichever bus interchange or whichever MRT station along the way, and find their way home from there.

when the Tuas MRT stations are ready, then we extend the peak hour "feeders" to the new stations and end there.

I think this is better than your suggestion of having temporary BRT, which will cause an unnecessary bottleneck at Joo Koon MRT station area.

no la. I think the "trunks" will only run between Tuas Bus Terminal and Joo Koon Bus Interchange, and between Joo Koon Bus Interchange and Boon Lay Bus Interchange.

personally, I do not think there should be any non-JIS bus service from Boon Lay Bus Interchange (or Jurong East) being extended to Joo Koon. Those services are already too long. we should shortern them instead.

Personally, I feel that the bus network currently at Tuas, Pioneer and Boon Lay (planning areas) is not effective - evident from the regular peak hour traffic congestion. With the Tuas MRT line coming along, there has to be bus rationalisation at Tuas area, with a new set of bus services in Tuas, Pioneer and Boon Lay (planning areas).

In my opinion, I think the new set of bus services will consists of peak hour bus services (PHBS) and "trunk" bus services.

well, I think when deciding which routes to change and which to remain, the key consideration is on the distance - on the assumption that the people working in Tuas/Pioneer (planning area) all stay in areas east of Pioneer (planning area).

mmm... sorry to say, but I think your article is a bit theoretical/not practical. if we have it your way, we will have a bus connection that is weaker than what is already there today.

In short, I think

I do not think any non-JIS from Boon Lay, Jurong East or any bus interchange elsewhere should be extended to Joo Koon Bus Interchange, since this will only increase the distance and may result in more consequences than benefits.

Nonetheless, we can create a new service - running between Jurong East and Joo Koon - to serve areas (eg. between Boon Lay MRT and Lakeside MRT) that currently do not have any bus service.

I hope after Joo Koon Bus Interchange opens, at least 3 service from Boon Lay would be brought over. A big bus stop should be created on the traffic junction along Jurong West St 64(near bus stop Opp 662C).

This allow passengers to connect to Bus interchange/Shopping Mall/MRT, bus service can loop and terminate elsewhere(if possible) and also for 240P to gain better enhancement(Of cus svc 240 must be the berth closest to the bus stop outside.

you mean like 187 which goes around Bukit Batok Bus Interchange along the southern perimeters (going straight towards B. Gombak instead of BB Int at Ave3 junction) ?

but there is Boon Lay Way in the way. last time the section of Boon Lay Way at that area was always congested with buses during peak hours. it was after Joo Koon MRT opened that the congestion problem was resolved.

I think there can only be new bus services at the bus stop beside the temporary bus int site at street 64 if there are bus services edited to skip that section of Boon Lay Way.
