Well, I am not sure if there is a restriction on which areas it can serve, but even if there is, the bus networks at Jurong West will still be affected.

But then again, I am sure any loss of bus connection in Jurong West will be prevented, if not minimised.

Once we knew which svc starts from there we will know if theres a restriction or not..Like what someone said…From Joo Koon to Tuas,JK ind svc serve like feeders etc..unless they decided to extend 49 to there or at least a new svc 47 to Clementi..

My advice is that you should do something else instead of writing in forums or following news. For example, you can watch dramas when you are taking a break.

The English language used in forums is not always perfect. You should read other forms of media that use perfect English, such as news portals, etc.

The O level examination is a major examination. It determines your future.

Please do not be distracted.

Anyway, the opening of Joo Koon Bus Interchange will only affect people working in Jurong Industrial Estate. Even with Joo Koon Bus Interchange, things will go on as per normal. So do not think about it.

Just focus on your O level examination.

Actually next to the Jurong Cisco Centre is a suitable place for Terminal.Can introduce another 4x service to other parts of Singapore..Its such a wasted for Joo Koon to restrict to Tuas bound svc only…Should have at least 2 longer trunk svc to Northern and City areas..

We should have a bus interchange sited at the HSR terminus, and have bus routes originating from it and going to MRT stations around and near Jurong, such as Jurong East MRT, Dover MRT, Bukit Gombak MRT, Beauty World MRT, etc.

Routes cannot be shortened..only modified.There is still need for buses trust me..With the soaring COEs and more rail projects there will be more additional passengers nvm about the new citizens..Spore with its tiny size already have 5.38m while Selangor 5-6x bigger only have 5.21m to date!

Hi mr jurongwestresident, shorten routes 178, 30, 154, 99, etc??? I can imagine the big cry coming up if that is to happen. Nowadays residents get extremely vocal at MP session if their bus routes can cut. So I doubt this will ever happen. Cheers.

There was an article on 《联合早报》around four years ago that mentioned that the original Jurong East Bus Interchange site would be returned to the Singapore Land Authority and the Urban Redevelopment Authority would be developing an air-conditioned Integrated Transport Hub consisting of bus and train services, and a commercial development, before year 2020.

Could not find the article on 《联合早报》website, but there is an extract of it at a Chinese-language forum.

Regarding the rumor that it would be incorporated into Westgate Shopping Mall - which is obvious by now that it is false - I think it was a misreading of the part which says that "Westgate has direct connectivity to both the Jurong East MRT and bus interchanges".

Nonetheless, that part may indicate that the future new Jurong East air-conditioned bus interchange might be sited next to Westgate Shopping Mall and Jurong East MRT Station.

JE int wont be built so soon yet. Jurong East will undergo a little change to the road structure first (A new road - side road beside Westgate will be connected to jurong gateway rd at the old interchange's entrance).

Then the planning and construction for the new interchange will begin. The location is where the original interchange was (i.e. under the mrt tracks).

I was at Jurong East area just now when I saw this map pasted next to the bus stop along Boon Lay Way. Notice there is this small wording that says 'Future Bus Interchange', adjacent to the MRT station and Westgate.

Anyway, regarding the development that will contain Jurong East Bus Interchange, I think it will be mostly (if not entirely) underground, with Jurong East Bus Interchange at the first storey. This is because that site is constraint with the MRT tracks above.

Hi mr sbst191, they already announced so they will have it in their plans. If they really bother that it is an opposition area, they may as well don't care to announce plans initially. However they do not do that. So please do not link politics to bus services. Cheers.

Q: If the service guides of bus service 49 (Taman Jurong - JW St 42) are seen at Boon Lay Bus Interchange, is it a sign that when Joo Koon Bus Interchange opens and the number of bus routes at Boon Lay Bus Interchange is reduced, bus route 49 will be extended to Boon Lay Bus Interchange?
