Hi , would like to inquire wat is the best age for pre school?

My in law is thinking of sending my daughter to pre-school nest year wen she turns 2.

Wat are ur views?

Siao ah 2?? I think 4 should be ok since i went to kindergarden at 4 and up till today there is still nothing wrong with me mentally and nothing wrong with my grades. Can your child even walk or talk at 2?

Usually kids around age 2 is ready for some schooling.

But not the full day ones, most parents put them in half days for a few days per week.

It is only to get them used to the curriculum so they are used to the environment and will have an easier transition to full fledge schools like Kindergarten.

Most likely, 2 year old curricullums are not as structured.
And the best part about it is that they will have other children to interactive with.
Children learn more from other children.

Where I am, 3 years old is pre-school, and 2 year old are preliminaries/toddlers.

It is actually better for your child to go for some school to start.

In fact, the hardest part about letting a young child go to school is not with the child.
Most parent or primary care givers will experience separation anxiety and will be hard to let her/him go the first few weeks.

I've seen many adults cry at the first day of school.

But don't worry, most children at that age will adapt well. It really depends on how the teachers transition them over, and the personality of a child.

So choose the school carefully, what is most important is that the children in that school should be happy and enjoy going there.

So yes, if financial is not a problem for you, it is better for your child to go.
Children at this age are like sponges.
You will be surprised how fast your child picks up skills.

Although, what I cannot tahan is that they also picks up sickness from other kids real easy.

I've heard this somewhere....

Place your baby around objects which signifies different talent. Eg. Ladle, paintbrush, pen, etcetc. If your child pick up the paintbrush, tt means he/she has talent to be an artist. But I think this is just a myth lolx.

There're Brush, Book, Daggeretc..

Book means literacy.. means when he grow up, he'll be a very smart person.

Dagger mean martial arts.. means when he grow up, he'll be very good in martial arts..

Depends on each individual bah...
I have a baby cousin(alright i don't think she is really a baby now), who learn how to talk and walk very fast... She went to a school very early...

I read in the papers sometime ago that going to school too early would stifle their interest to learn. Also they might develop anti social traits later in life.

Well if your daughter really don't like to go school then pull her out from it...
Let her go some other times... Or change the place...

I have another cousin who also doesn't like school at first and will cry whenever her mother bring her to school... She was then pull out from the school... After like 3 months more, her mother bought her to another school and she enjoy it now...

That is why you must do your research on the schools.

The curriculum should not be too structured on academia.
Children at this age must be allowed plenty of time to play.

You must go and visit the school yourself and look at how the children in the school behaves.

Are they happy ? Are they enjoying the activities ? Are the teachers engaged with the children or do they just teach and stand one side ?
Do the school allow parents to visit any time they want ?
What is the teacher to child ratio ?

If the school is boring and teachers don't deal with bullies, which child would be happy to learn ?
Observe, study, choose wisely, and your child will have more to gain.

Frankly, I sense you are unwilling to send your child to school.
Are you a stay at home mother ? or a working mom ? OR
Has it to do with the fact that it was your MIL who suggested it ?

At first, my SIL was very against the idea of putting her first child to school, I remember she had a big fight with my brother.

But after 2 weeks, she told me she was glad to see her son actually enjoys going to school. And his language skills picked up super fast.
The boy used to be very shy and would hang his head when a stranger talks to him.
Now he's a wascawwy flirt with the girls !

Now, the twin girls are attending schools at 18 months.

I feel that 3 is the best age... but 2's fine too... I have a niece who's only exposed to school life when she's 4 years old... abit too late cos if u compare her with many children around, she seems abit "slow" in terms of development and her behavior still seems like she's 2-3 years old...

Hi, I think this depends on how she is being introduced to school and the school environment she is in... If learning is a fun process for her, y would she lose her interest?

playgroup is 2 hours a day, mon to fri
there will be classes fo kids from 18mths to 3 yrs old

basically a bunch of kids having fun like singing, dancing, learning ABCs...
get to have some hands-own on coloring work, painting, fondling pets, cooking eggs..
even playing in a temporary pool...
they will learn toilet-training (for the young ones), mealtime etiquette and skills (how to feed themselves, bring plates to washing area, wait for others to finish before leaving own seat)
and oso watching video of barney, sesame street.....
kids will learn about caring and sharing, making frens, taking care of themselves, respecting elders and such......

choose a sch with new and well-maintained facilities and equipment
like toys, TVs, computers, musical instruments....
and teachers who are certified in early childhood education or toddler/infant care

whether the child like the sch or enjoy him/herself in sch can be easily observed when he/she comes back from sch
does he/she often tok abt the teachers and classes, wat they did today, whether look forward to sch the next day or refuse to go to sch......
