though what you said doesn't really coordinates well with my words, but i have to admit what you are saying is logical and theoretically, reasonable.

And the reason I'm staying in this cesspit is due to the past, that's why i can't stand the noise if someone is doing something that disrupts my so called "peace and tranquility".

I think its the same for everyone, that one can only really enjoy peace and silence only in the night, cos our competitive society and environment will not allow us to have those feelings during the day, unlike in countrysides.

Most likely the police will take down particulars and give warning lah.

Even with the Joo Chiat case, it was a civil suit.

Some fight these days, the police can't even be bothered to prosecute and ask that the aggrieved party take civil action.

Just tahan for a few 10-20 mins more if possible, must also thing of others..

If after 10-20 mins, approach him and ask him to keep it down cos your parents and you need sleep at that time.. if he don't want, threaten to call the police... if he say call loh then you call... I doubt this type of people will dare continue after you threaten them..

But remember la, sometimes it's just better to forgive and forget.

It has nothing to do with tolerance level. It's more of practising common courtesy. Majority of Singaporeans know they should not be making any unnecessary noise after a certain time. But they chose to ignore that, cos they are bloody selfish people. They think just because it is their house they can do what they want but they forgot or as I said chose to ignore that the ceiling, the flooring, the walls are all shared property. In actual fact what they or we owned is the vacuum space we are living in.

Walking I understand, some people have very heavy footsteps and this can't be help but what I can't stand is parents allowing their children to jump from the bed to the floor and playing ball inside the house even after 10pm. Thank goodness my upstair neghbour very chitong one. Very seldom make noise. Even when about to service their aircon unit they will send the contractor down to inform those living below them to close our windows incase the dirty water and dust got into our bedrooms. Hope they don't sell their unit and move away Mr. Green

you know thats what those stuck up people will do. they will say "call lor,call the police" and when you really did, they can spend up to 2 hrs just to bring out all sorts of grandmother stories with the police just to "prove" their innocence, they will never admit they are wrong to do something thats restricted

for the first part of your words, i should say, Precisely. By living in a building with other tenants, one should have the mentality to show considerations already. Yet they believed they are being reasonable in what they are doing. Thats why its so hard to get a good connection and communication with neighbours sometimes.

And for your second part, I think you are like, monumentally lucky. Take a look at the replies on this thread, how many of them actually talks about their neighbour above them being zhitong in doing things, i'll say, its minimal.

hmm, my advice is.. please cool down. I am sure this drilling incident is just an one-off event. Sometimes, shit just happens and some urgent home repairs is needed. In this case, it is unfortunate that the drilling has to occur after 10pm because like u said the dude cannot do it in the daytime when he has to drive his cab.

Like u also mentioned, the drilling took at most like 5mins ++? Common cut the fella some slack? Everyone is trying to make a living and also trying to be responsible in taking care of each's family. In this case, the dude could be the only male in his family capable to doing such DIY-repairs. So he still has to do it ard this time. Also the repair could be critical? Delaying it further might compromise his family's safety.

What is the loss to your family? 5-10minutes of sleep? Common..

well, if its just like that, i won't mind. But there's actually some misleading.

1)He did not drill for 5 mins, he went out for another 20 mins of hardcore drilling

2)he's not the only man, he has 2 able bodied sons, both are pretty big in size, and I'm sure if his IQ is high enough, he would have given clear instruction on how to do the drilling as its the school holiday now for the younger son, if he can't trust his sons to do a good job, then just forget about drilling

Now, doesn't it seem reasonable for me to get all hot and fury?

last time in my previous flat, my nehber downstairs very powderful...
after 11pm, they will use bamboo n poke their ceiling.. which is our floor.. poke n poke fo hrs... den got once, i dulan... i tell my mom.. she go down complain, they duwan to answer the door...
my sis go 1st floor see, their kitchen lights still on...
den call police... the younger ones duwan to open door.. let the ah ma open... but police no softheart.. go in n see... they really using the bamboo to poke...

ask them poke for wad.. they cannot answer.. they tio fine for making noise after 1030pm... hear the fine not cheap... then they even more cb...
got once, afternoon, my hse boh lang.. cos we all went shopping...
evening they come up to my mom n say we dirty their clothes... Laughing
they slapping their own face... my next door nehber porved no one was home in the afternoon...
they say wanna call police n sue us...
my mom say sue lor... scared ah... see who in the wrong...

their clothes was dirty with mud...
there's no mud in my hse...
