thanks for all the respond it made me feel better. but the fear is still there, what is this i am feeling ? i can't put it into words, once in the car i am...

If you really wanna protect yourself and others, I suggest you listen attentively to your driving instructor. We can't help you overcome the fear.. its YOU yourself who can help.. Nothing can go wrong if you drive meticulously

Simply tell your instructor you are not ready for paya lebar or geylang roads.

I think the test routes are pasted on the notice boards in the Driving centers.
You may want to go take a look.

Worrying about stalling is normal.
Just press more gas.
You don't have to worry about the gas usage, you already paid for it. So no need to save money for your instuctor.

Don't worry about the big vehicle either, if you cannot see the traffic lights.
Look out for the movements of other vehicles.
There is always a pattern to the flow.

Also, you can use the rear brake lights to give you an idea if the big lorry is moving off or not. Big vehicles usually takes longer to lumber off.
So, no worries. You have all the time in the world.

Familiar yourself with the clutch biting point.

I used to purposely stall the engine, so I know exactly when it will happen.

i'm also learning manual currently, also having some fear but it gets better each time.

I always tell myself, hack with the others on the road & take ur time.....dun panic.

Lol, drive till u get bored.. thats the way man,,im serious, i did that..

The fear is caused by that you dont drive well, and u might ended up hitting any ghost in this month.. but just drive more, it will make u feel more comfortable

relax just drive normally as usually..ppl see L plate they will give way to u. they are more scared than u.

I was just like u when i started learning driving @ SSDC...
1st few lessons i would stall without fail at least 5+ times...especially on the main road...

It came to a point that my instructor almost gave up on me and said i may have to consider taking Auto instead...

That really discouraged me alot and i told myself to buck up...
So after sum intense practice and going thru the steps in my mind, i cld finally change gears smoothly and drive...my instructor was surprised Mr. Green

It's all about practice and running thru the steps in yur mind...it's not easy but in time you will get it...trust me...dun be afraid to ask yur instructor if u have any doubts...

Somemore u L plate, other road users will definately understand yur situation...

Remember there's still alot more to learn like changing lanes, parking, slope etc. This is just the beginning...dun take it so hard...take yur time to learn...

Once u get yur licence...it'll all be worth the effort! Smile

yeah, when waiting to move off, release abit of the clutch, and at the same time step on the accelerator, den after your car starts moving, you can slwoly release the clutch.

Great to hear such a responsible comment from an aspiring driver. I hope this perception does not change after you obtain your license.

Anyway don't despair mate, yours is a small problem. All it takes is a little practice and more confidence to be road-worthy. Try to focus when
you are driving and try not to be distracted by the instructor barking beside you. Unfortunately our roads are filled with many irresponsible
motorists. Please do not be discouraged when these ppl honk at you, tailgate you or whatever unpleasant actions. You need to build your
own comfort zone before you can effectively function as a driver. All it takes is some determination and relevant practice.
You will make it!! Good luck

Driving is very fun, but please do not forget your statement of road safety to others and yourself when you drive eventually.

My instructor fell asleep.. lol.. and guess what..

"This is my chance !!" Vrooooooom !!!! 80km/h for my 2nd lesson !!!

What i mean is that.. just be confident... Why let negative thing inside you?

Just listen to instructor and drive slow and keep your distance from cars infront you about 2 metres for newbie like you.. then its alrite.. why so afraid of hurting ppl ??

When u drive , u need to feel the fun.. not feel bad... sigh..nvm.. u will learn it slowly and the fear will go away in time..

don't worry bout cars behind you.

most if not all, will try their best not to travel behind a L plate. And if they do bang you its 99% their fault.

so don't be afraid of that. almost maybe you'll like to practice more during off peak hours to gain more experience and confidence.

Second lesson on the road, my instructor fired me.
Yes, he sacked me, his student.

Why ?
Because I was so scared when approaching a red light.
Instead of stepping on brakes to slow down, I ram the accelerator.

Then I freaked out , released my hands from the steering wheel to cover my eyes !!!!!

Lucky my instructor pull the manual brake.

you guys are right i should be so scare, since i am L plate.

i really hope to be a skillful and responsible driver.

even when i pass, i hope to go on the road to spread good road manners.

i have seen how ppl lost their lives in a road accident, thus i want to prevent that.

fear i guess it is common, so with more practice i can over come it.

Aiya, Uncle, u scare scare, dun drive lor, like me, take MRT, taxis, buses, save alot of money and also dun hv to worry about what COE, ERP, road tax, summons, offences, maintenance, TP, accident, die, handicap, half die, car scratches, car dents, carparks coupon, etc etc etc.....

Somemore if you take public transport, someone drive for you, you can see here and there, look at handsome boys and sleep ZZzzzzzZZZzzzzz

i won't be able to bring anyone around at my wish.
taking cab is a b!tch, some times they are there and sometimes not.
mrt and bus are slow, besides having a licence is another skill that can help me look for a job .
