well, in your application, you always have to indicate your
previous job / company ? sometimes they do call back & check.
If not, its the job agency who will do that.
Otherwise, if your industry is very small, word do get around
one.
If you don't want them to find out, either you don't mention about
your tenancy at the previous company or you come up with some
reason - say resign or something.
