Stay in ploy and study hard and change course in the second year..

i got into sp, but got into a course which i have no interest in.. so i gave a few ideas for myself :

1) just stay in the poly for 3 years (no interest in that course,skipped 2 days lesson in just the 1st week already)
2) go mdis (cash-flow problem)
3) study higher nitec(which is at the east , i live west) after that go poly(but i am 18 this year, i dono whether i can study finish higher nitec den go poly without going ns first ) for the course i want.

4) retake my o lvl while in poly. (cash n time wasting)

until now i still dono wad decision to make ... as all my decision have difficulities... damn stressed up... anyone can giv me a gd decision? and have any other idea for me? note: im 18 this year.. ns is a big problem

1) what course is it?
2) mdis is expensive plus no motivation to study.
3) you won't be able to go poly after h.nitec, your nation wants you
4) you can try this, but then again, u will be paying nearly 2k by the time u finish Os.

i have tink about this too.. but i nid to get gd grades in poly.. and i have no interest to study in that course...

put it this way singapore is developing is communication network at a very fast pace.

your pay may not be less then you think.

since you do not like eng what do you like?

By the way SP engineering is one the toughest among all poly but you can get out of it in 3 years means you are ready for a working life.

i know about this, but my interest lies with business . any business courses is fine with me.. this 1 st week i go for a few lectures and i found out i dono wad are the lecturer toking at all, and i have no interest to find out too... no motivation at all..

its kinda confusing for you now. would advice you to see some of your seniors in the poly and ask them for their advice. or you can approach your lecturers.

The questions you should ask yourself are :

"Which subjects am I most interested in?"

"What is the career path I should take?"

You will be able to answer your own questions if you can decide on the key issues.

anithing related to business i will be interested..

all becos i didnt study during my sec years ... thats why didnt get into the course i wanted.. damn regret... all those taking o lvl should really work hard..

Many companies are out-sourcing their basic accounting functions to countries where they can employ cheaper labour.

The point is, you have to aim higher than a diploma if you want to do well in the accounting profession.

ACCA or a degree in accounting is what you should aim for.

ACCA will probably cost quite a lot and might not be the best choice in your context.

The cheapest alternative is to re-take your O levels and try to get into a JC.

It doesn't matter if you are lagging behind right now. Once you have a clearer picture of what you want to do in life, you will be much more focused and will be able to catch up with the rest soon (provided you put your heart into it of course).

I would recommend a degree from our local universities or ACCA.

1) It is a requirement to have passed the final exam in accountancy in the above mentioned institutes in order to obtain CPA (Certified Public Accountant) membership. MDIS is not an institute ICPAS recognise.

2) If you are following the job market, you should realise; local degree in accountancy or ACCA is the most common qualification employers look out for.

It's better to get a widely recognised cert than settle for something easier to attain.

you will be wasting your money on ACCA

my Os results are super lousy... & but i managed to get myself a position in poly, studying electrical engineering... I am a gal.. & i have no interest in that at all.. but due to peer pressure, i managed to obtain pretty good results to get into local uni.. until now.. i still have no interest in engineering... fyi, u can take a minor in biz related stuff in uni... not sure if u can do that in poly now..

thus... no interest doesnt mean u cant get results.. fyi, i oso prefer to be in biz line..

to me, getting a qualification is one thing.. out in the workforce in another...

more imptly.. is.. whatever u choose later.. make sure u fair well in it.. else.. even if u choose a biz course.. u still slack ard.. the end result is still the same..

an engineer can be a bizman.. but a bizman cant be an engineer..

ACCA is definitely harder than an NTU accounting degree because the level 3 papers are master's level difficulty comparable with a top university(e.g within top ten). Also ACCA sets the accounting standard for the whole world(except USA) so is naturally harder.

Note: NTU ranks 71 in the world.
