I am to further develop a friendship with this orphan friend of my w/o the implications of romance. Recently she has been saying life has no meaning... Shes living alone, and its seems kinda hard to break into her barrier... Any suggestions?

How old is she? Would she mind being introduced to some old bikers who would most likely be able to dote on her a bit, in the brotherly sense?
