Can it be you being a little over-sensitive? The person in
question referred to "they", referring to your clique. Sometimes,
people don't like cliques, even though certain individuals in them
are very nice. Cliques do behave like a separate entity, with its
own personality.
So I suppose it is really fine if you go as a well-wisher, with a
smile on your face, a gift in hand and a generous heart in
you.
