but seriously, if it's NS coming soon, don't bother. most companies or businesses nowadays tend to look for employees that can commit long term [ or at least 6 mths - 1 year ]. In any case, I would suggest you studying on .. part - time courses or night classes will help lots, as, sadly to say, a "N" Level cert will get you nowhere in future ..

Or go do some self upgrading like teaching yourself a new language or skill.
borrow books from the library and let your parents notice your doing.
The companies did not call you, the reason might be because, you have not completed NS or you are waiting for NS. they would't wan to hire some1 who can only work for a few months...

getting a job is one thing but you seriously need more education whether your brain likes it or not...these days even if you want to sell insurance, you need 'o' levels...some insurance companies do not even want anyone lower than a degree....so seriously you need to get more cert than go through life this way....

are you sure you can't even get jobs at those places you mentioned? i've seen damn jia lat employees there....then you need to ask why, is it your attitude, your appearance or some other stuff....

one way is for you to get a skill of sorts like cooking, baking, some technical jobs like fixing or building comps etc.....

How about just go to technical school to be a carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc?

Nowadays everyone wants to go to uni and there are not enough trades people to do these works. Very soon you'll see a great demand for trades people. In Oz, there's definitely a need at the moment and these trades people actually earn more than most white collars.

So don't give up just because you're not good at studying. We need people with other skills too. Keep exploring for different things you can do.

Who do you say you can't find a job? Have you been actively searching in the very first place or just sitting around waiting for the job to find you? Your job right now is to find a job!

I remember treating this very seriously, I got my resume prepared with copies of all supporting documents and then pored through the classifieds in the Straits Times column by column, starting every single morning from 0900 hours. Once I discover an opportunity, I would go get my cover letter done right away to get my application posted by noon. I would also search the internet job sites like JobsDB, Jobstreet and apply online which is hassle-free once you've prepared and saved your resume online. I would also go approach employment agencies for help.

I will attend every single offer for an interview no matter the geographical distance.

This was how serious I took my job search. No kidding! I doubt your efforts even come close to the extent I went........... Wink

this guy has only 'n' level, no need for resume...just open classifieds and you'll see plenty of walk-in interviews, if he bothers, everyday can attend at least 3 - 5 interviews....

meantime, u can try job agencies, sure they can be shrewd but its better den nothing.

if not, do consider taking a technical cert from ITE. its very useful, really.

U just have to keep on knocking and u will find one eventaully.
Alot of jobs does not require much cert requirement.

Anyway getting a job is good for u cos u will have extra allowances to spend on. In addition, u get to make new friends and gaining experience that you can't get from school..

night classes are those that at held at night [ duh! ], often using schools for their classrooms .. and yes, i believe you can get to O lvls through night classes, you might want to check out MOE website for more details, i'm not that sure as well .. Confused
