SumOne SG At first was going to post in existing thread but the topic was rather different and it had become a personal flaming thread. What do you think about the roles and responsibilities of Moderator in AA? 1) What one needs to do as Moderator of AA is different from Moderator in any other forum? 2) Moderator of AA is expected to give advice? So what of a moderator who doesn't give advice? 3) Advice should only be given by Moderator? Edit;Colour changed to green to be friendlier on the eyes.
deathscythe99 SG Please check out the definition of moderator first? But anyway, I guess the moderator is here to ensure no flamings and other irrelevant postings are made in the forum. Thus the term, moderator. If not, you should appoint a permanent 24/7 Aunt Agony instead? The moderator need not give advice de mah Why must ask so many times ah?
SumOne SG Actually, I have my own views. I'm just putting here because there is still debate about it. Better to make things clearer also, because previously people just focus on wanting one particular individual to be demodded. Now since demod already and Jason in the process of finding new Mod, might as well make it clearcut what Mod of AA is or isn't.
stellazio SG Well the standard role of a Mod is to ensure that rules are followed. But maybe, people expect more out of a Mod from AA.
SumOne SG Anyway to add, I've been told different explanations regarding the role of moderator in AA itself. The P-member who told me this is himself Moderator of at least one other forum within sgforums. So even moderators within sgforums have different views on role of AA Mod. Anyway, idea was to discuss this generally without directly linking to individuals.
SumOne SG So what's your take? Yourself being a moderator. I kind of get your answer but maybe just to seek clarification on your own view at least?

Obviously the roles of MODs here and the MODs in other forums are the same. Forumers who think otherwise are welcome to create their own AA-styled forums and set their rules in their own forum. Cheers
R3SsH|n SG role of mod in AA = clear all irrelevant threads, spams or cross-posting topics. Edit comments that are insulting and degrading to the topic or any forumnite. same as other mods of other forums..
Bontakun SG Two kinds from my point of view. 1. Function like how Fireice does, but NO advice given of any sorts. 2. Function like how Fireice does, with added stuffs. Good and decent behaviour provided. No ulterior (or interior) motives. Genuine helping people. Unbiased. No involved in flaming or discrediting. Accountable to all the people available. Responsible for personal actions. No hidden agenda or claiming of huge backing. Clear and open minded. No personal vendetta against anyone or anything of sorts. Clear conscience. Help giving and seeking. Slow to anger. Fast to respond. The list goes on......
deathscythe99 SG Eh....I dun see much difference between pt 1 and 2, except that 2 is just "1+something else"... But anyway since the person is the moderator of the forum, he/she can also give his own opinions mah...it's generally the same... Why limit to only AA, that's what I'm wondering.
deathscythe99 SG That's because of behaviour, not cos the person's a mod.... Try not to lump it together yea?
SumOne SG I don't, I have always kept it a seperate issue. And because I'm keeping it a seperate issue, that's why there's this thread to seperate from the other. Get what I mean?
Yunhaier SG Then do we need to change the role of MODs simply because of a few minorities? Not happy, can always create their own forum and set their own rules. There's nothing to debate about the roles of MODs here because it's the same elsewhere. Cheers
798 SG as much as i feel, AA mod need not neccessary be a prof counsellor. but his actions n character need to be decent to prove to everyone he is more suitable to be one. u dun expect to put any name to be mod rite? example like iveco or pervertboi rite? already pple will faint just by looking at their nick wif moderator tag already. but someone did mention the duties of a mod need only to monitor threads by locking it if there are flaming, spamming, repeating and out of topic threads. in dat case, the two posters are definitely suitable to take the role. p.s. frankly speaking, iveco n pervertboi are not really a bad person as they not even attend outings or cheat on gals. maybe who know if they r mod, they will become responsible n and become wise for being part of the main forum.
kopiosatu SG the role of an AA moderator is no different from other moderators. i don't see why some people think that being a AA moderator means u have to be some kind of nanny.
kopiosatu SG precisely, anyone who feels that they are able to give good advice can always start their own forum. just call it uncle, father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, cousin / agony... best still, one can call it house of pain too
