For the past 4-5 years, Roger has been so dominating and
invincible in his game. Beginning of this year, he started to show
signs that he is vulnerable, lost to some unfancied players, lost
on his favourite surface and even lost his no. 1 ranking. Most
recently, he lost to G. Simon in the ATP masters cup in Shanghai. I
saw that match and can't help thinking that he is past his best and
may decide to retire within 1-2 years. I can think of a few
likely reasons for his mediocre performance this year:
1. His illness early this year.
2. Too much competitive tennis.
3. He has lost his passion for the game.
4. The competition have read his game and are getting
better.
Any others?
Anyway, in my opinion, he is still the greatest player of all
time and I admire him for his off-court image too.
