He's probably complaining about you too. But boys don't seem to
complain too much about their siblings. They don't seem to have
that habit.
I am curious about your age, because I think you have an attitude
problem and so I'm wondering if it's due to teenage angst.
Your brother asked a favour of you. It's totally fine if you don't
want to help him but why do you keep ignoring him? It's rude not to
answer people.
Did you check the thermometer to see if he's telling the truth? I'd
guess not.
In fact, you went on ignoring him. His anger at you is completely
justified because not only were you being rude, you are being very
disrespectful to him too.
You did not help him out of willingness but most probably out of
fear so don't see it as a favour done for him. Your brother had
paid for your help by enduring your unreasonable rudeness.
The way you responded to him when he mumbled something to you was
very rude too. If he's sick, I'm not surprised that he's speaking
softly. Or maybe he felt that you did him the favour afterall so
he's trying to be nice by not shouting at you this time. You
responded volatilely over something that was not his fault (it
appears to me that you are venting your frustrations on him) so how
do you expect him to react? Smile at you when he was being yelled
at for no reason?
I don't see what's the big problem in paying the bills for him too.
It's just a short trip. If it's not supposed to be your job, you
could have reminded him of that nicely. Or take it up to your dad
NICELY. NICE is the keyword here. It earns you points and allies.
Nobody likes grouchy people.
Your brother is also taking the wrong attitude with you if he
curses at you each time you refuse a trip. But remember that while
he might not be some great guy, you don't have to stoop as low as
he did. I don't see you being any better than your brother,
honestly. You might not curse as much as he did but your overall
attitude in this particular scenario shows that you are pretty
immature. There are other options you could have used to handle the
situation but you chose a bad way.
How long had he owed you the money? If it's only for a couple of
weeks, WAIT. If it's been longer than a few weeks or so, speak to
him about it, and be NICE. The issue of money can easily destroy
any relationships, even kinship so please handle the money issue
carefully.
If he's not going to return the money, you can take it up to your
parents to try have them nudge him for the money.
Once again, keyword is NICE.
Overall, you need to grow up a little.
