There is bus service 858 which runs between Changi Airport and
Woodlands, and it serves almost all the areas in the North-East
region served by the bus service you recommended. There are other
bus services in this region which provide for the bus connections
you recommended. Furthermore, there will be new bus services 117
and 118 coming soon. Hence, I do not think there is a need for the
Eastern part of the bus service you recommended.
Likewise, for the section between Choa Chu Kang and Yishun,
there are already bus services in the Bukit Panjang town which
provide such bus connections.
Nonetheless, based on your recommendations, I have come up with
two new bus services: 126 and 127.
It could have been one bus service running between Boon Lay and
Punggol, but it would be too long (more than 22.5km) for a trunk
bus service. So, I split it into two bus services.
Bus Service 126
> Woodlands
Length = 19.13 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least
23 mins (at most 46 mins); around 34.5 mins
Bus Service 127
> Punggol
Length = 18.13 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least
35 mins (at most 70 mins); around 52.5 mins
Bus Service 127
> Woodlands
Length = 18.34 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least
36 mins (at most 72 mins); around 54 mins
Bus Service 126
> Boon Lay
Length = 19.9 km
Estimated Travel Time = at least
24 mins (at most 48 mins); around 36 mins
I suggest that you understand more about my proposed 164 before
making such comments.
Firstly, my proposed 164 has nothing to do with Yishun and/or
Woodlands. Its pimary purpose is to provide a fast connection
between Punggol/Sengkang and towns such as Bukit Panjang, Choa
Chu Kang and Boon Lay. No other services provide such
connection today. (In fact, 164 can even terminate at Punggol
instead of going to Changi Airport)
164 bypasses Woodlands and Yishun by using Mandai Rd and
Sembawang Rd. Therefore, there is no need to mention 858 to
Woodlands; nor is there a need to create 967 and 968 just to
connect to Woodlands only. Moreover, 117 and 118 also serve
different purposes compared to 164.
Secondly, although 858 passes by the North-east region, it only
calls at one bus stop along TPE and only serves a few flats there
directly. Although transfers from there to Sengkang/Punggol are
available, they are rather limited and areas such as Sengkang West
do not even have a service to TPE bus stop. Therefore, 858 and my
proposed 164 (which serves a larger region by passing through
Punggol MRT and Sengkang West) basically serve different
purposes in this area.
Thirdly, although 171 provides connection between Bukit Panjang
and Yishun, it doesn't go all the way to the NE side; on the other
hand, my proposed 164 doesn't even serve Yishun at all because
that's not its objective.
