Of course la. Bus Services 117 and 118 are very-long trunks and
they each need three parking lots; total six parking lots. How many
available parking lots were there in Punggol Bus Interchange?
Punggol Bus Interchange has 38 parking lots.
Punggol has 15 bus services, of which 13 are very-long trunks
(more than 16km) and need three parking lots each; only 2 need two
parking lots each. If go by that definition, actually, 43 parking
lots ((13 x 3) + (2 x 2)) are needed. but there are only 38.
Prior to the launch of bus services 117 and 118, the (13) bus
services at Punggol Bus Interchange required only 37 parking lots
(43 - 6). There was an excess of 1 parking lot, thus why traffic
was smooth.
But now, there is a shortage of 5 parking lots. That is why have
jam.
Thankfully, this space crunch is only temporary. There will be
an additional 13 parking lots at Punggol Bus Interchange by year
2017 when the bus interchange expansion is completed.
Following should be the allocation of 38 parking lots
3 - 02 (02 slots at Tampines)
34 - 03
43/M - 04 (43 will have 02 slots at UEC)
50 - 02 (At Bishan, 02 slots)
62 - 03
82 - 02
83 - 02
84 - 01
85 - 02 (given 12-15m frequency, 02 slots are enough, 01 slot at
Yishun)
117 - 01 (02-03 slots at Sembawang)
118 - 01 (02-03 slots at CBP)
119 - 02
382 - 02
386 - 01
This makes 28 slots.. still have 10 parking slots. What do you
think?
