Long Distance?

I've been going out with this girl for several weeks already and we have had great times together. I like her a lot and spending time with her and she feels the same too. The main problem is that she is leaving to Australia in a few weeks for a few years, and I'm leaving to UK for a few years in Jun. Which is kinda annoying since I just got back from studying in Australia...

Should I enter a relationship with her now, considering we will be pretty apart just as the relationship begins? I've been thinking about this and I think I should wait. I've kinda mentioned this in passing to her too. This seems to be the most feasible option right now but at the back of my mind there is this lingering thought that I could just get together with her for now and see how it goes. I just wondering you guys have any experience to share that could help me in my decision....

wouldn't the time difference affect the meeting times on msn between the both of you?

I really don't believe much in long distance. Isn't it better to leave it as it is and just keep in contact. If you get together again, there's always a chance you can be in a r/s.

If you get into a commitment. It can only last for so long. It'll fall apart eventually if you're apart too long also.

Ok adding my experience. I had a similar situation before I left for USA. It was good for a few months but eventually we both got tired of each other after 7 months. r/s is about enjoying each other's company and sharing experiences... msn/phone etc isnt gonna help you a lot in the end.

Thanks for the advice! I've only known her for the past few weeks, and I agree with you. I think it would be difficult for a long distance relationship, and especially if it were to start with the long distance. I think I'll leave the relationship as friends for now, and leave the options open till we are back in singapore i guess. Thanks for the affirmation. Very Happy

Agrees, i believe if you gonna start a long distance relationship because of a few weeks of pleasant interaction, it will turn out to be a disaster.

Btw why not look for a partner when u're in uk than getting attached to a unstable relationship.

long distance never works…..no matter how strong the feelings between you are…...the distance causes a rift between it.it sucks,but it always ends in hurt…..maybe u might last a few months,or even a couple of yesrs if u can handle it for that long…..but it will eventually fail.safer to stay as friends.

i tried long distance relationship before, though my partner and i managed to survive through after so many of quarrels & mistrusts and watsoever, i can say is definately not easy. Since you guys havent started, for me, if i can control, i rather not.
