kilua SG

for your inform, even Tan Howe Liang is not even true blue sinkie.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tan_Howe_Liang

"Early life

Born in Shantou, China, Tan was the third of eight siblings. In 1937, he emigrated with his family from China to settle in Chinatown of Singapore. Tan's Teochew father died in a death-house at Sago Lane in Chinatown when he was 14. Tan stopped schooling after his first year at a secondary school"

Tan Howe Liang is a Singaporean who played sports.

The PRC imports played sports to be Singaporean. Thats the difference. Few Singaporean feel proud about one of them.

the whole team representing singapore in table tennis is all made of FT.. "all" is different from "a lot".

Havent you read the Standard Propaganda Literature dished out by State Media and Counter insurgency agents? The football teams now have foreigners representing their team. After reading these logical propaganda arguments, our tears would roll, we would be transformed and become proud of any imports that is representing Singapore.

When in doubt, reread the Standard Propaganda Literature. Reading it a few more times helps your mind think in the right way.

actually it doesn't matter whether other countries use FT la..

if it consoles TS, i loathe all countries that use FT to win lo.. just that i don't bother about the other countries..

redDUST SG

If u dunt like FT in Sports,u shall not watch any football any more.

Where is Becham now,bro?

Why USA,with population of 3oo million, still need Yao Ming?

USA and other super big country still need FT in the Game!!

All the great footballs team get lot of FT.

as per your same ignorant post in sports,

beckham is playing for a CLUB, not the USA. he is there to promote soccer to unappreciative americans. Yao Ming is the vehicle for the nba to crack the 1b chinese market.

when liverpool buy torres, it is a club business nothing to do with country.

pls refrain from making such posts again. it bares out your ignorance excruciatingly.

Singapore vs. China in table tennis, machiam like China vs. China.

the way I see it, China will win, either way

If our own people don't have faith in each other, what hope is there? -_-

Anything is possible, it's just that we're pretty much lazy.

maxsee SG

not that i look down on my own countrymen.....not likely for a true blue singaporean to win a olympic medal lah...come on let us face it....countries like china have population in the billion to choose their talent...while singapore have onyl a tiny population that is a couple of millions lah......so not exactly about lazy or not lah...more about whether does we have much choice to pick our ppl from lol.

Tao Li was born on 10 January 1990^[3] in Hubei, People's Republic of China,^[4] the only child of Tao Ran and his wife Li Yan. Her early years were spent in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province. She started swimming from a young age.^[2] On one occasion at a particular local meet that she was confident of winning, she had her parents attend. However, she lost and was so upset and worried about "losing face" that she asked her parents not to come for future competitions. While she has now overcome that fear, her parents still keep to the "tradition" of not attending her meets in order not to distract her. In 2002, at the age of 13 years, Tao was brought to Singapore by her mother.^[5] At the time she was training with a provincial swimming team and earning a monthly salary of RNB500. It was difficult for her parents to decide to send her to Singapore, and her father was initially against the idea.^[2] Tao became a Singapore citizen in August 2005.^[2]^[4]

How the hell do u mix EPL/ NBA with World cup and World basketball championship???

Do u see Kaka playing for Three Lions??? U must be smoking some grass, is it???

I see Deco for Portugal?

To add on, Nastia Liukin ( USA ), gold medal winner of women's gymnastics individual a few days ago, was from Russia.

Resentment SG

sports school have got no use , i know of a lot of sports sch ppl , they are successful during their times in there but when they graduate from sports sch they stopped training. And once again they are back to square one , watching olympics on the tv just like us.

lemme emphasis, coming to singapore to play sports to become citizen and coming to singapore to become a citizen den taking sports as a career is totally 2 different matters…

I would definitely consider Tan Howe Liang a true blue Singaporean base on the fact that he was not talent scouted just to come to Singapore to help win a medal. He came here poor with his family and he was working as a clerk when he took part in Olympic. He funded his own trip. He got nobody to help him unlike the table tennis team where they were actually talent scouted and bought them over with cold hard cash.

The only one I would say that would become a true blue Singaporean would be Tao Li. She speak like a local. She speak Singlish! Which is close to our hearts unlike LJW who still speak like a China Chinese when she has stayed here the longest.

Bigcable22 SG

Singaporeans love $ if prize for winning olympic medal is an astronomical sum.. there will be ppl going for it..

eagle SG

I agree with you.

But for LJW hor... I thought she came here when she was very very young??? Was she talent scouted a not ah? I cannot remember...

when bowling gets introduced, singapore will stand a chance in the olympics. Just needs lotsa luck besides skills.

eagle SG

how come we haven't got any Jamaican kids to come over to train for athletics yet ah?

I dun think so... even in regional our bowling team's not always getting the top prize all the time. Plus the dunnoe-wad-Ong-guy ( cant remember the name ) sucks = ='' i juz cant stand his face.

Then which is more acceptable O.O

carzygoul SG

Then which is more acceptable O.O

becoming a citizen first den take sports as a career... least they have a sense of patriotism and belonging? I hope? Find it disgusting when the govt need to buy people over with money to represent singapore.

loseagain SG

So it's not right to come to Singapore to play sports because Singapore is able to offer them the opportunity to do so comfortably? I mean, in an environment better than the one they came from I think. If they like the place here, they will feel the sense of belonging.
