NekoRin SG Sighz..... Is it true that guys are getting more emo (or having 'PMS' as my other friends call it) recently? Yesterday I casually asked a friend whether he has asked the person's permission to post the person's photograph on his blog and he took it personally, broke off contact with me and password-protect every blog post of his It seems that he is taking everything I said to him as a personal attack, with replies like "My design sense not as good as you." when I commented that his font color is too close to the background to be readable etc. Any ways to deal with the emo guys? Should I be more sensitive to what I say to them? It's kind of hard to say stuff when they ask me for my opinion in their web design and they cannot take it even I commented in a very mildly, non provocative way. Seems like I'm getting more and more male friends who emo over every other thing... from not getting enough attention from a female friend in game (she gave 2stacks of water in game to him and 3stacks to me and he got emotional and kicked up a fuss) to taking comments personally and accusing the whole gaming guild of being racist when it's supposed to be that case in game. (WoW game - PVP-roleplaying server, Horde side and what we said is "Alliance sucks" "Alliance is ez-mode" and my friend flared up )
Bontakun SG From what you have said, seems like the next generation have changed. Or maybe its just your company of people who happened to have guys who are more emotional. In that case, be more sensitive to them. Anyway, how old are you and your friends?
pinkish purple papayas SG Hang out with more mature guys loh... teenager boys are like that one lah...
Bontakun SG Actually, its not sad. Maybe those guys you mentioned happend to be like that? How long have you known them? Is it just recent, which is why you found it strange they are pretty emotional? Or you have known them for some time and initially can still tolerate their emotions but it snow balled big enough till you just cannot take it? OR you have known them but never actually bothered to know them well until now then you realised they behave like that?
NekoRin SG Have known them for quite some time, it's only the past few months then their 'PMS' start getting more and more frequent
NekoRin SG Well, there's nothing wrong with being emo, but if it's frequent and affects all others then shouldn't we as friends help them out?
Bontakun SG All of them the same? Maybe they have reached a stage in life whereby they are browsing through their life? All of them the same? From ok ok to become more emotional recently?
NekoRin SG hmm for one of my friends is a known 'emo case', it worsens when matters of r/s is put into the picture. (in our group we have an extremely popular girl which alot of guys are chasing). Another I don't know him that well, but the recent incident a week ago he has put on our group seems very devastating to the friendships. Lots of vuglarities were hauled and lots of other friends are offended As for the friend whom I commented about yesterday, doesn't emo that easily until recently.... can see him get angry even on slight matters very frequently. From what I heard, he feels inferior to others
Bontakun SG Hmm... The 1st one you mention... I dunno how to say exactly... perhaps just be with him and try to understand more about his behaviour and such then perhaps you can see something you can find to help him? The 2nd one, I suggest you all have a good talk with him. Preferably get someone whom he can relate well to to listen to him and slowly find out what is wrong. No direct confrontation, else it may blow. The 3rd on mah... I suspect (its my assumption, it could be wrong) he may have been in some big incident recently. Same approach as the 2nd one and build up a good relationship with him. Let him feel and know he is not that inferior as he assumes himself to be.
NekoRin SG Thanks, I'll try it out. As for the 3rd friend, I don't think it's that easy. We both been through alot of incidents (from liking the same girl; he offers to help but 'backstabbed' me instead; me helping the girl to reject him as she doesn't like him; to now I moved on and got happily attached while he is still chasing after her) and I don't think he will open up to me gua
Bontakun SG Then get a friend to talk to him. You don't have to be involved. But the person talking to him must also be patient and have an understanding heart.
mistyblue SG now guys more in touch with their emotions and express more freely ba... just make sure they are not overboard, ku-niang and bloody moody all the time..
blu_sky SG i do agree that SOME guys these days are more emotional than in the past, but i do not think it has anything to do with age. My ex-boss was a real capable guy, only in his 30s, yet very very bad mood swings.
NekoRin SG hmm, the closest to him in our group is the girl he is chasing and she said she is tired of people getting emo yet again and again
NekoRin SG It's good to express emotions more freely, but not affecting everyone else's mood. Imagine a group outing when suddenly one guy emo and disappear for 1hr+ without telling the group.
