Meilin86 SG I have a sister studying in university. My parents are jobless due to old age and retrenchment. I feel very sad that i could not help her in paying her tuition fee. What shall I do? I have my own problem in paying the outstanding education loan and the interests for my school fees too. Furthermore, my sister and I do not have a stable income. We have been applying scholarship but rejected due to incapability, not matter how hard we studies, we are not ELITES. I feel bittered and distressed on tuition fee. Is there a resolution to this worriment such as interest-free loan? I appreciate for your opinion.
dragg SG keep reminding the counsellor what the president said about not leaving anyone behind.... then ask for discount.
Meilin86 SG I am working but my pay wasn't high. Coupled with the accumulation of interests hit me. The banks are like Da ER Long, legal one.
missqi SG How about selling the house and buying a smaller place? Use the cash to find the loan etc etc etc.
<Precious> SG While scholarships r for those very bright ones, wad u can apply for is a grant. u may want to see your Member of Parliamemt for help at their Meet-the-People sessions weekly. U may oso try approaching Lee Foundation for help. I suggest u visit your nearest community club or centre to find out more.......... Good luck!
Meilin86 SG A unit in a flat with 2 bedrooms at presently is too small to fit my parents,my grandparents, my two sisters and I. If sold, we will be living in a single living room.
udontknowme SG the uni SHOULD have loans for students... yeah...i suggest that your sister go speak to the school counsellor to help with the problem...
NT2 SG interest free i dun think so. ask those student unions for those funds for needy students lor. if she is in NUS confirm have one
missqi SG As much as I hate to say it; there is no free lunch. You have to pay interest for borrowing money. Please go speak to the uni counsellor, and try to get subsidies for textbooks or whatever k.
UandMe SG why must be interest free? next time ur sister starts working she will be able to pay back wat.
udontknowme SG im not sure about your sister's uni but for me, i know i can get interest-free loan at my uni erm...but really, speak to the school counsellor or some admin person there who will be able to help you best and give you the best option
browniebaobao SG go apply bursary lah... scholarships are only for very outstanding students. dun apply juz from sch, apply elsewhere. I think NTUC gives quite an attractive sum of money for Bursary. Can find out from community centres, RC etc too.. And depends on ur race/religion, i believe there are bursaries/scholarships too!
Meilin86 SG Why they insisted Interest? Poor people should be assisted and not to be left behind. Education is a way to reduce the gap between riches and poors. We Poor after education will be a social beneficial to the society. We will payback the principal and not run away with the money
