i think in a relationship, sparks will always be gone when you
reach a steady stage.
When that happens, (for some maybe 2-3 months time, some maybe up
to 1 year), its time when both parties need to put in effort to
maintain the relationship. A relationship does not survive on
sparks alone, it survives on effort, care and concern and
commitment amongst others.
When you feel that the spark is gone, it would be nice to surprise
your partner with little gifts or special holidays etc. It should
spice up your relationship a little, provided that both still love
each other. (Of course, when both hate each other, its another
story.)
Also, it is not very difficult to say "I love you" or to hold hands
when watching TV or when simply slacking. Such small actions,
actually to some research (Dont ask me where, I cant remember),
does improve and maintain the intimacy of a relationship!

IMHO, you need effort and not just the novelty of love.
Cheers!
