* There could be some timings where sv 116 calls before sv 72 and can get 40+ pax towards HG Int, but don't forget this is not true reflection of 116's merit coz there will be a DD 72 right behind that could have accommodated these pax.

* Even today 2 years+ after introduction, AM loading at NEX is 10-12 pax, PM loading at NEX (opp stop ofcourse) is 16-20 pax max.

* AM loading for 116 at HG MRT is 10-12 pax during AM and can be 20-25 pax during PM.

* I rate 116 as a failed bus route in terms of LTA planning.

The way I see it, it serves as a back up service to heavy services like 72,165 and 315. Of course, improvement to those services have made this initial improvement redundent. However, without 116, those 15-30 pax may have to squeeze in and add 15-30 pax on the other services. At least the journey for those pax have a higher chance of a comfortable journey to their destination. It also helps with the frequency of buses going to central areas in that section of town. Same for PPSS and svc 18.

Though I do agree that they can make the route more viable, if they mess up the frequency, then it lost its original meaning, to boost the frequency of buses.

LTA main purpose to introduce a back up service like 116,Sooner or later they will get the catchment once new estates and residents come in..Purpose of BSEP also meant to support the 6.9m project and of course the Foreign workers..So dont be fooled by it,Once 6.9m is up we will return to the era where overloading and f up frequencies svc appear

Hi mr ButIAmAToilet, actually each and every has his opinions. There is no right and wrong. One man's meat may be another man's poison. There will always be a camp who is pro-116 and one camp who is against-116. As long as they benefit current passengers who take it, it should be viewed as beneficial. Of course the route can be further improved like some other services. Once done, the level of comfortability vs other factors will come into play. Cheers.

* As we can see, the bus gets super high loading... but it is clearly in segments... Segment 1: AMK to Springleaf, Segment 2: Upper Thomson to Yishun, Segment 3: Yishun to Sembawang Rd, Segment 4: Seneko to WRI

* Having said the above point, you do have long distance travelers. Coz even distance between AMK to Springleaf... and Yishun to Sembawang rd or Seneko to WRI are quite far away.. and upper deck was 70-80% full at all times

* Need more DDs in timings before this one to pick up the Seneko load..

* Route is same as 856 from Canberra road all the way to Yishun interchange. Loading in 50s.. not bad.. but is manageable by MANs and hence no bendy/DD needed

* Service can be potentially extended to Punggol Interchange given parallelism with sv 856. Can be extended via Yishun Ave 5, Yishun Ave 2, Yishun Central, Yishun St 61, Yishun Ring Road, Yishun St 41, Yishun Ave 1, Seletar Link, Punggol West to Punggol Interchange

Observations:

* 334 outbound journey still has super high loading... but you can see that most JE boarding pax already alighted along JE and JW Ave 1... and there were few more who boarded along these for st 42.. Safe to assume that sv 49 is taking most of the MRT crowd now for st 42?

* Inward journey loading was quite poor at around 30 pax, peaking at 37 pax... Could it be that the DD that went 8 mins before might have bunched with this with a gap of say 2-3 mins... or maybe the loading on return leg is not high as typical for most feeder services

* I feel LTA should give a BSEP addition (B9TL) to sv 334 considering that even after sv 49 introduction, loads continue to be super high... From SBST side, should definitely convert the lone KUB to DD as well... since the loading demands it... full fleet DD feeder service.

Gambas Ave -- 59 (0/9) lots of construction happening along Gambas... foresee that in future there will be additional stops for 965/969 along Gambas

IMO, 965 is generating excellent revenue for SMRT considering it has a high number of pax taking it, and loading/unloading is quite high throughout. If you see the average until I alighted, the lowest number of pax was 38 pax just before Sengkang Interchange, but on average had 50+ pax between Yishun/Woodlands sector & 40+ pax between Lentor & Sengkang sector.

Note: This observation was in opposite direction of peak rush. I believe the 17.45-19.15 hours from Sengkang to Woodlands would be having packed buses reaching 70pax, and maybe the 2 BSEP DDs that may replace the BSEP MANs can be timed to do this timing from Sengkang.

Nevertheless loading pretty impressive throughout, and BC also drove bus very well and fast, stopping appropriately & courteously for passengers along the way.

Loading for service 292 at 11:30pm remains to be 13 people at the maximum. By the time the last 2 buses nobody is at the bus, they just leave the bus static as it is.

All, I just saw 3 buses of smrt 858 within a span of 30 seconds all arriving at TPE bus stop towards direction of SLE at 10.35pm on 12-11-2014. The 3 buses are all fully seated with a lot of standees.

End phone call, ADL left, one 969 bendy come immediately

Go somewhere buy something (shop within 25m of 969 berth), turn around, bendy left, 969 MAN at berth (probably immediately, I shop for a minute)

Walk towards berth, 969 MAN left, another 969 MAN arrives immediately

Is this even normal for the 7pm load at Tamp Int?

If you ask me, the second MAN was not even needed, the first MAN still have a bit of space left (both ADL and Bendy left full earlier)

Every loading on a last 2 buses in any trunk service seems to be less than 10, including those dispatched from the bus interchange(s). Feeder service seems to be only 1.

123 should get some DDs, PM peak got full bus from Tiong Bahru to HarbourFront... 123M doesn't help much with the load, often see only about 5-10 pax alighting at VivoCity, while 123 often has full buses... Not sure why.

131 should also get some DDs... Saw people squezzeing into the poor KUB during the PM peak.

123/123M just doing fine. There is heavy loading between Tiong Bahru and Bukit Purmei but well supplemented with full day 123M. No need for DDs or additional buses. 123 loading between Tiong Bahru and Queensway quite okay (30-45 pax most times, hardly exceeds this but can also be in mid 20s on many buses).

You know the tendency.. if bus is late.. everyone cram into first bus even if next bus right behind.. during PM peak these days you have 123/123M every 05-07 mins at Tiong Bahru MRT... and everyone can get bus unlike before 123M was introduced.

Also extension of 123/123M to Harbourfront has prompted many ppl to shop at Vivocity and not just TB Plaza. All those who would go to Tiong Bahru to take Green line to change to Purple or Yellow line, now directly take bus to Harbourfront. This has also changed the loading dynamics quite a bit.

Service 195's loading is quite heavy between Tiong Bahru Mrt and Telok Blangah/Depot Road area even with service 121 introduced,but is there any particular reason why can't it have DDs deployed on such a route that needs DDs badly? According to Public Transport Sg,it says due to insufficient demand which is definetely not true as I frequently take 195 and is usually gets very crowded. Is it because of Commonwealth Drive being too narrow to have DDs? If super-narrow roads like Lengkok Bahru can have DDs on 139 I don't see why can't Commonwealth Drive too?

I am surprised PTO reply to you is insufficient service. It is the low hanging branches along Tehlok Blangah/Depot road because of which 195 cannot have DDs, otherwise this service would have got DDs long time back.

121 was introduced to alleviate the loads on 195 and I would say it has helped to some extent, coz you can see 121 getting 50-60 pax during peak hours, which is very good for new service.

During PM, it is a bit of challenge, coz you need to take 121 from stop along TB Plaza. Considering 195 comes more often, more ppl flock to 195 stop instead of 121 stop.

The entire Tehlok Blangah/Henderson stretch has some of the high loading services lik 145/176/195/131/57 that cannot get DDs due to the trees there. Considering how much issue LTA is having to trim down trees along Bukit Timah stretch to make way for DDs on 67/960, I doubt they will get into the marathon exercise in Tehlok Blangah estate. People here have to live without DDs.

On a positive note, if you see the number of new routes/extensions in this area are quire remarkable compared to other areas.

Very few estates have got so much bus enhancement. That is their way of compensating for lack of DDs.

It wasn't PTO that said 195 has insufficient demand, it said on the public transport sg website btw, and yeah I have to agree these new services makes up for the loss of DDs in Telok Blangah.Strange that the only service passing through Telok Blangah with DDs is Service 65 aside from Telok Blangah Road.

LOL this have been the sequence way before 969 had MAN

If judging from ur sequence and time

That ADL should be the 850E/969, The bendy is 1077E, then 969 MAN is 1320E and then 319S and then another bendy and then 1359U and then shld be another bendy and the 320L

The sequence is like dat, just suck thumb with it, if u want to take a seat in 969. Study the sequence and timing like i do so that i can guarantee myself a seat in either a DD or bendy.
