Every morning i see 85 half filled or with few standees during AM and PM peak. I have never seen 85 full before.. Maybe is because 39 is duplicating 85 from Yishun to Jln Kayu sector and 85 dosent stop at jalan kayu? Correct me if im wrong because most of the time i take/see 85, it has only 40pax most of the time

Hi mr SBS5010P, demand for Sbs 85 and sbs 39 is not same. Crowd to pasir ris/tampines by sbs 39 far exceeds that to sengkang/Punggol for sbs 85. Cheers.

That is my observation as well. It's not a well planned route. For Sengkang residents, 965 to Yishun is faster. For Punggol residents, x-over at TPE bus stop on sv 39 is faster. sv 85 must have really lost pax after opening of TPE bus stop b'coz I was observing even buses passing by in opposite direction were half seated to empty.

965 on the other hand has had quite a surge in loading and is doing quite well.

Hi mr busanalyser, 4th statement is not valid. For Punggol residents, those staying near MRT will take sbs 82 to Punggol road (3 stops away) and cross overhead pass to take smrt 965 to yishun. For those residents living at end of Punggol central near Punggol east, it is comparable to take sbs 85 direct from Punggol central. Time taken will be just few minutes more than taking sbs 83 to Punggol road to transfer to smrt 965. It will be wiser to take sbs 85 because you are guaranteed of a seat and there is no need to cross bridge to take smrt 965 at Punggol road.

Nobody in his right sense of mind at Punggol will want to transfer bus to the TPE stop then walk across the super long winded bridge to the other side and wait for sbs 39 to go yishun if he has sbs 85 at his doorstep. For those who just stayed next to the TPE stop, they will walk over to take sbs 39 (because they no need transfer a bus and they do not have sbs 85).

So I say the stop at TPE did not affect sbs 85 loading as it has always been this poor. The frequency is also this bad thus I have made it clear that sbs 85 cannot be fully trusted for loading for Punggol central. Sbs 85 loading is consistently poor throughout the whole week for years and Punggol residents have already acknowledged that it is much worse than sbs 3 and 83. That is also why I have voiced out earlier and insisted sbs 83 direction cannot be reversed to start at sengkang and loop at Punggol. Or else Punggol central residents will have to rely on sbs 3 only (plus half of sbs 83 and half of sbs 85 since they are hit with external factors). Cheers.

Okay. Point granted. Then it means there aren't enough people who travel between Punggol and Yishun bcoz as per my observation, during peak hour there was almost no one who took it from Punggol to Yishun and the little bit loading that came was between Sengkang west and east town.

No wonder frequency will continue to be poor as the route is poorly planned and there is very little demand. Also, sv 85 did take a lot of time within Sengkang till it finally reached TPE. If it was me, I would be better off to take sv 83 and crossover to take sv 965.

Hi mr busnalayser, things may be better for sbs 85 if it gets extended from yishun to sembawang bus int to capture some market share of residents. But since sembawang is under smrt territory, it is not possible. Too bad for sbs 85. Cheers.

Things may be better but it can be possible, to extend from Yishun to Sembawang. No matter what I think can but judging at the state, it will affect the loading, and more commuters will be worried. That is to say, extend 103.

Dont think 103 can be touched. It's current route would be very popular once Seletar Airport completes renovation and when the public has access to the airport in the near future.

I think he means extend via Seletar, Yishun Ave 1 to terminate at Yishun or Sembawang. That route makes lot of sense, as would give Ring road, interior Yishun residents direct connection, as well as connect Seletar airport to Yishun.

But with 103 extension to Yishun (if it happens, and I recommend it does), they need to do something to sv 85 to make it more worth its while.

* I expected the loading to be higher, given that Upper Serangoon flats are now complete

* Spotted sv 136 passing by, when bus was getting into Upper Serangoon View, bus 136 seemed packed with lots of standees

* sv 324 frequency seems very good, because when bus was at HG Ave 7/8 junction, another 324 passed in opposite direction (totally empty as expected as it was towards Upper Serangoon Crescent)

* Anyone observed bus with good loading on sv 324?

* 189 clearly has its pockets of super high loading, and needs more high capacity buses. Loading b/w Clementi Ave 1 and Clementi is okay... but loading is very high between Clementi and Bukit Batok MRT

* I would say as of today 189 needs more DDs/bendies. Hopefully SMRT realizes this soon and gives it to sv 189 before it gets viral

* Overall at NEX boarding on sv 43M > sv 43 (I think the way sv 43M is timed is quite good or at least today in the 35 min slot)

* Counted three 43M buses each with loading of 57, 75 and 47 pax. Quite good I believe.

* Sv 43 loading estimate is not accurate, as this counts only pax who boarded bus and not pax already on-board. For instance, all three buses 18.58, 19.20, 19.22 seemed to have healthy number of pax already on bus coming from Paya Lebar (quite a lot of pax alighted at Serangoon also)

* On another note, sv 70 came on three occassions right behind 43/43M, all 3 DDs and each one of them had quite good boarding of its own (could not count as I was concentrating on sv 43). Believe most of these pax would be for Seletar and beyond Buangkok Green/YCK road junction.

96 clearly should have more high cap buses running including a few running full day. Upgrading Citaros to higher capacity KUBs alone cannot help a lot.

Hell broke loose.

From Pasir Ris, reach Punggol Park already full to the door. Still got a metric fuckload of students from punggol primary want to board. All cannot enter. Stupidest deployment on earth.

Svc 88 already got full DD fleet sometimes even DD full to the door still stupid-stupid go deploy KUB. Not even one, THREE KUBs. Deployed during peak somemore. *facepalm*

You should understand a few things

1:The perm DDs goes for maintenance which might need a few hours to complete and suay2 Brbp doesnt have enough spare DDs that day

2:Perm BCs on MC/Leave thus the standby BCs with DD license also already deployed to other svc,So no choice have to deploy standby BCs without DD license..At least better rather than leave the 3 slots empty.

Its very rare to see KUBs on sv 88 these days. Must have been some emergency issue. Ofcourse, I hope this is a one-off situation bcoz having SDs on sv 88 is catastrophic.

SMRT is hopeless case on many services even today.. recently took sv 189 (you can see loading on previous page)... such high loading but still MAN was deployed... when it should have clearly been a bendy slot... so many people were stranded... so many people pushing to enter bus.

On Monday afternoon I was observing sv 201 at different locations. I have to say that sv 201 fails to take in pax at Teban Gardens as people there still prefer to take buses to Jurong East. There were instances where at least 7 pax at each of the 2 bus stops along Teban Gdns Rd choose not to take sv 201 when it came. There were people alighting at Teban Gdns Rd, but few. As for Pandan Gardens side, the situation was better as people are taking sv 201, but generally they just take whatever came first. Overall loading from Clementi to Penjuru/Teban/Pandan is still very low, like less than 10 pax. (Note that these are not during peak hours, but loading during peak hours is also low)
